Vanrock Recorder E-101

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Vanrock Recorder E-101

I recently acquired a Vanrock and most everything about it seems self explanatory except the ENDING function. From what I can gather this will do a run out groove and then a locked groove to keep the stylus from skating across the center into the spindle. The lockout is in a fixed position but mine when it goes to the locked groove it doesn't manage to lock it.. it just keeps slowly incrementing the groove I guess until it crashes into the hold down weight.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I'm considering unmounting the head from the Vanrock chassis adding longer wires and mounting it on a separate lead screw with a fullsize turntable to cut mono 12" records.
