Vinyl Recorder in the future

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Vinyl Recorder in the future

I was wondering about the following...

In the future, at some point sooner or later, Souri will retire from his business.
I understand that he is the only person who manufactures the blank discs for his VR. Correct me if Im wrong.
The same thing about repair of the cuttinghead or getting spare parts.

Although I wish Souri a very long life and hope he will go on working for a long time, I wondered what will happen to the VR when the manufacturer stops and how / where we can still get support (blanks, repairs etc)?

NB: Please no negative rants about Souri. I'm sick of this negativity; it sickens the atmosphere on this otherwise fantastic forum.

Probably this speaks for every one man band vinyl cutting machine companys.

Three months ago as we spoke he said: Even when hes gone, his business will continue.

And even if not, theres always a solution, also thanks to lathetrolls.

Cheers

I hope so
At this point I don't know of another place where to get the vinyl blanks for the VR.

You can get blanks and styli from myshank who provide an excellent service and quality products. Only a matter of time before a readily available replacement head comes along.

Nice one Flo (as always!) ;)
I'd love to see more pics of the Caruso on a VR - did you take anymore?

Also details of how to make that adaptor bracket would be great too!
Always looking to get serious with my VR so that might well seal the deal :)

Thanks.
