How record thickness is controlled

Once you have cut a master laquer, you have metal stampers created and have records pressed from them. Discuss manufacturing here. (Record Matrix Electroforming- Plating, Vinyl Record Pressing.)

How record thickness is controlled

Hello trolls, thank you for all the information that you are sharing here!
Learned a looooooot of stuff reading here in the forums but my curiosity is still missing something.
How the record thickness is controlled in the process of pressing? Is it there some piece of metal which keeps both matrixes separated for let's say 2mm or this is combination of amount of pressure per time?

Thanks,
Bob

The depth of the mould cavity determines the thickness of the record.

Am I right in thinking that you need different moulds to produce different weights of records? (i.e one mould for a standard 130-140g record and a different one for a 180g record?)

If so that's a considerable amount of investment to buy specific moulds tp produce 180g records which won't necessarily be used 100% of the time...
