Help and advice for Souri's Vinylrecorder

Dear Trolls (specially vinylrecorder users)

I need to buy the cutterhead amp and the vacuum pump for Souri's Vinylrecorder.

Could you give me some advice?

Souri told me "cutterhead amp, no hum" but nothing more, and everytime I ask for other detail he replies the same (same story with the vacuum).

Any help will be much apreciated.

Thanks a lot!

you can buy 2 caruso preamp boards (just use the riaa encoder part) and any pa amp with 50-100W each channel. so i guess you get that all together for around $400
then you have a nice solution

ait will be also a great
"cutterhead amp, no hum"

and for the vacuum you can use any old vacuum cleaner from the junk..
it might be a little noisy in the studio.but it definitely works.
if you want silent solution search the forum for the thread about vacuum pumps for fish tanks...

Hi,

I appreciate this is an old thread but I was hoping someone could help me find:

This "vacuum pumps for fish tank" thread. I have tried several different search options but I can't find it. Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

Many thanks,
Michael

Hey guys, as stated before the OP is pretty dated.
But thought I would ask again, has anyone found a quieter solution to the vacuum situation on Souri's cutter.

I originally bought the vacuum from Souri, but it is way to loud for the space I am in.

Has anyone bought or tried the Vacuum Pump he sells?

Cheers
Nath

Get a vacuum cleaner.
Get a long hose for swimming pool vacuum.
Put vacuum cleaner in the next room (or the room next to that) so you don't hear it in your cutting room.
Use the long hose to connect lathe to vacuum cleaner or vacuum pump.
Use a stepdown transformer and run the vacuum at half speed if you want it to be even quieter.
