Hello all,
I've been having issues some sort of static-ey noise floor when cutting. Instead of having a perfectly silent groove, I can hear multiple little clicks. It is low enough that when the music comes in we don't hear it but during silence it is annoying.
I've experimented with different styli and heat settings and I can reduce it a little but never enough. The amount varies depending on the lacquer brand: Transco, Apollo. MDC seem ok. I've tried aging the lacquers for a longer period but it doesn't seem to make a difference. The only thing I think is left would be the humidity level of the room but it is quite challenging to keep a room humid in the middle of winter with heating on at all times.
Have any of you experienced this before? What kind of variables do you control in your cutting or lacquer storage room?
Thanks,
Phil
