a very special day. i have been working on this machine for weeks, this is going to the national museum of south korea. i just got the machine completed today and am doing a series of experiments. this was the first machine in the history of the world to record sound, it cannot reproduce it, but it can record it. this was 20 years before the invention of the phonograph.

the machine is recording on a sheet of white paper that has been coated with pure carbon from a paraffin lamp. a very interesting and historic machine. the recordings are called phonautograms...
