Groove cutting into blank PVC slice?

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

Groove cutting into blank PVC slice?

Hello.
I can find blank PVC/polystyrine slices online:
https://www.amazon.com/Styrofoam-Arts-Crafts-Discs-Circles/dp/B006SS2ARY

How can I easily cut grooves into them to prepare the PVC/polystyrine discs for vinyl recording?.

I could select density and depth.
Less depth allows for more re-recording cycles, but with higher danger of the needle sliding off.
More density allows for more recording length on same space, however a narrow width of the spiral track can also cause sliding off and sacrificing audio quality as much as recorder incompatibility. I will find a balanced density manually.

Hi,

You don't pre-cut any grooves. The groove is made during the cutting process. You will need to design a lathe and cutter head to accomplish this. Do some searching here and you will see quite a few examples of DIY lathes and heads.
