Very Suspicious Contact

Over the weekend someone filled out my contact form on my Deep Grooves web site. It said simply "your location and phone #".

I replied with my phone number, but my studio is private. I don't give out the address. Nor do I do attended cuts unless you are someone I know.

This person called me. Instead of talking about the release he wanted to have cut, the conversation was mostly him asking me what gear I have. He wanted to know all the specifics. What amp and lathe I use, etc. When he asked when he could get in, I replied that I don't do attended cuts. He immediately hung up on me.

That just seemed very suspicious to me. Mostly when I speak to prospective clients they are more interested in talking about their release. Not what gear I have and where I am located. Just wanted to give a heads up to the rest of you. It seems someone out there wants to steal a lathe...

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Weird. Could be a competitor or someone who thinks they are worthy of being a competitor (hopefully not by stealing a lathe!!).

Keep up the vigilance.

It was very unsettling to say the least.

Not sure this is so "off topic" to deserve banishment to the treehouse. That's a big deal. Watch out, people! and geez, insure your investment, yes?
