Killing the TV sound...

Did you ever notice that you can't buy a tv anymore that you can know before turning it on whether or not the volume is up? Sure, you can try to remember to push the arrow button to turn the digital volume control to 0 before you turn it off so that the next time you turn on the set, it won't blare obnoxously at you. However, if you live in a multi-person dwelling, it's not possible to prevent others from turning of the telly when the digital volume control is at one of its non-zero settings. It could even be at a loud number setting. What to do?

Even though all new tellies are broken, or booby-trapped, from the factory, this is not a problem. Well, this is no problem for a lathe troll who is willing to take things apart and attach things with soldering irons and heat-shrink tubing. Please check out my bedroom Hitachi, now booby-proofed against making a bad sound, provided the troll remembers to flip the kill switch to the built in speakers. It's a flip switch from a Neve 8014 console, repurposed for fixing the Hitachi flat screen. Works a treat!
