Technics MN6042 Pitch IC

As most folks familiar with the Technics 'tables with digital pitch control know, the pitch synthesizer chip, MN6042, is very static sensitive and prone to failure. What seems to have escaped everyone's attention is that most working chips aren't working right. I've measured several samples, and they all essentially exhibited 8Hz frequency drift. This chip generates the quartz reference for the motor, so any drift at all isn't good.

Being an SP-10 MK3 owner and wanting the best possible performance from my 'table, I decided to design a modern replacement for the MN6042 chip. You can read about it here: http://fidelisanalog.com/product/mn6042/. It's designed to be a direct drop-in replacement, with far better performance and reliability than the original. I had a batch of boards made so I'm making some completed units available to help others out and hopefully recoup some of my sunk costs.

As these utilize a micro controller I was able to make a version with expanded pitch resolution. This version allows 0.01% adjustment - after setting the normal +/- 9.9% adjustment, you hold the reset button down for two seconds to enter hundredths mode, which allows +/- 0.09% adjustment.

If you purchase one please make a comment in the order notes that you heard about it here so I can contribute a portion of the sale back to the forum.

Thanks!

Or an SP-15, or even an SP-02 but I can't be 100% sure on the latter as I've never seen a schematic for it.

JP Jones , is very interesting for the engine Technics MK3, please show me 10 msec on the oscilloscope, please enable probe in point 1, IC204, FG, MK3, oscilloscope set at point 1 m sec / cm and lightly with your finger to slight brace plate turntable, please make a short video on you tube.

If I remember the next time I have my controller open. There'd have to be a far wider frequency drift than my board has to manifest as an issue visible with that test though.

I didn't see them on the compatibility list but I have to ask anyway - is this compatible with the lower SP-10s? I own a MK2.

Always looking for a SP-02 but not holding my breath.

The only SP-10 that uses the MN6042 IC is the MK3 - it's only used in the 'tables that have digital variable pitch.

I noticed these are now out of stock on your site - any chance you'll be re-stocking them? I'm now in the market for 2 if you've got them.

Hi Mr. Jones

I'm Carlos, I need your help!
I have a SP10Mk3 that has stayed the last 28 years, stored on a shelf, is very well maintained, but needs a JP6042.
Please, can you sell me one or two units and send me in August?
greetings
Carlos
