VR t-560 cutter head position setting

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Hi Trolls !

does anyone know how to adjust the cutting head?
which screw can be adjusted to the correct position?
for some reason the head is not parallel to the upper bridge....
I'm trying to show the problem in the picture.

the black knob that tightens the head to the suspension. if you watch carefully when you put the head and turn the knob the head turns a bit to the right, probably because of the spinning nut inside the hole.

best,
bob

Is the overhead definitely straight? The head carriage travels along the feedscrew, that angle can’t change, only the swing left to right or up and down. If the full head travel angle is off I’d adjust the overhead (assuming ive understood your image correctly, maybe I haven’t.....)

There are two bolts on the underside of the suspension assembly that run up into the brass nut of the leadsrew. You can undo them slightly and adjust the position of the assembly there.
