Re:
I'm not sure what you mean. I didn't say anything about creating a new facet. You just turn the stylus around for tommi's method. Peter grinds the whole tip of the gramophone needle into a pointed cOne. oh sorry, I meant your idea of using a vice to create a flat area on the opposite side of the sh...

Re: Leaning back
Is this possibly what the use of Turtle Wax is meant to combat?

Re: Leaning back
the ragged edge is very obvious, don't need a lot of magnification to see it. It is even causing enough drag on the playback stylus to slow the record! I'm not heating the Lexan, could this be a cause of jagged edges? anyone else experiencing this problem or know how to resolve it? The audio is ther...

Re: Leaning back
anyone experience jagged edges in their groves using this leaning back technique?
I am using a backwards capps stylus on Lexan, and the edges of the groves become a zigzag basically as soon as any significant signal is being cut ... ?

how-to emboss
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread about embossing. There are bits and pieces all over the forum, but it seems like a very promising technique for cutting pvc. Sounds like it reduces stylus wear and noise floor, which is great for those using their lathes a lot to produce multiples....

want to sell your Used Diamond Styli ?
Anyone have used long-shank diamond styli that they would like to sell rather then throw out? I am having best luck with a slightly rounded tip ... something that many master cutters would dispose of.
The material I am cutting prefers a worn Stilus.
I'd love to buy your used Styli! PM me!
