8DG with Grampian/Gotham for sale
Hello all. Looking to send my 8DG to a good new home. I would like $15k for it. It has all the micro-grove wheels, but no vacuum or stylus heater, and has been working diligently and consistently for me embossing on PC for many many years. It comes with the Grampian Head and Gotham Amp. Let me know ...

Presto 8DG value
Hello Trolls I'm looking at selling my Presto 8DG, Grampian Cutter, Gotham Amp setup. I am looking for any ballpark ideas on what a fair price would be. It has all the additional the "microgroove" gears, has been working flawlessly for 6 years now, with daily use. The finish has some wear here and t...

Is stereo embossing possible?
Greetings Trolls I have combed the site for any info on embossing in stereo, but have come up relatively empty handed. Has anyone succeeded at this task? If so would you be willing to share any details? With the new stereo heads becoming available, this could be an exciting upgrade for those who lov...

Re: Passive IRAA circuit
I did some more research, and I see that 8ohms IS one of the stock ratings. I havn't been able to find the 1D manual that would tell me the resistor value, unfortunately. Would you be willing to send me your RIAA plugin? I am realizing that, with a series resistor, is a better way to go. If I can fi...

Re: Passive IRAA circuit
@markrob thank you for the schematic! My head has '8 ohms' stamped onto it, which seems odd. I got it from a basement, where it had been for a long time, so if it had been re-wound, it would have been done a long time ago. I don't believe they came stock wound at 8 ohm did they? Where could I find i...

Re: Passive IRAA circuit
@markrob Thank You!!!!!!!! SO simple! I am using a Presto 1C cutterhead, some people mentioned that this Cutterhead does not require a low frequency cut, but there seemed to be some disagreement. What is the prevailing wisdom now on this? Is this unique to Presto cutterheads? Does this mean that FLO...

Passive IRAA circuit
I've been unable to track down a schematic for a passive IRIAA circuit.
I see that FLO had posted one once, but I couldn't find a working link, or a post with it shown.
If anyone could link me to a copy, I would be grateful!
thanks!

Re: Restoring Presto 8N
Oh ya I see that, Thanks Mark. I was looking at my 8DG which has the threaded 1/2 nut type feed finger, and the thread profile on the feedscrew looks like acme.
thanks for clearing that up. Too bad really...thought I had found a cheap solution.

Re: Restoring Presto 8N
I have found a company that can provide a generic acme feedscrew, 3/4", left handed thread, at a pitch that would provide about 140 LPI. They are also able to machine the end holes. The cost is very low, about $40 for stainless, and half that for normal steel. Has anyone tried using a generic feedsc...

Thanks soulbear and rsimms3 !
hopefully piaptk or ROLANDJAYS can advise.
I prefer to use the original feedscrew method, if possible, though the potential for automation seems tempting.

Re: Restoring Presto 8N
Thanks Tragwag, 3/16" worked well. Here are a few photos of this project. As you can see, this machine is missing the feedscrew. Has anyone had feedscrews machined? 3D printed? Does anyone have one for sale? Does anyone have a creative solution to advancing the carriage in the absence of a feedscrew...

Restoring Presto 8N
Heya Trolls. I started working on a new (to me) lathe today, a Presto 8N. The first problem to come up is a missing element to the bearing and TT shaft assembly, and I am stumped because I cannot seem to locate an exploded diagram of the assembly, or any info online about this part. At the base of t...

Presto 3N
Hello ALL I have a lead on a Presto lathe, the photos of the lathe that I have indicate it is a model 3N. I don't see any info on this model online, nor any pictures of a presto that look like this one ... it is about the shape and size of an 8D cut in half vertically. very cool lathe. any info/tips...

Re: Adhesive for Lexan picture disk sandwich
The link below shows the MyShank laminator used for making picture disks. I would love to know what materials (pockets?) are used with these kits. http://www.myshank.com/fr/miscellaneous/66-kit-for-picture-disc.html Would you be willing to share your methods @myshank? Many would be grateful I'm sure...

Adhesive for Lexan picture disk sandwich
Hey all.
Does anyone know a good adhesive for making picture disk sandwiches? I'm using .020 lexan and printing the images on cardstock, I have tried so many glues, but nothing makes a perfect transparent seal without bubbling, wrinkling, yellowing, etc.
thanks!

hIgh-speed cutting?
Has anyone had any luck cutting 33rpm discs at 78? (And by that I mean cutting a disk at 78 that is intended for playback at 33, in order to save time) If the program material has the RIAA filter applied, and is then pitched up by a factor of 2.36, it seems to me that it should work, but my results ...
