damn, I hesitated buying one of these last month in unknown working condition for $100 and it sold before I made my mind up.

which style would be recommended for a recordio 6b30 cutting head (astatic x-26)?

I had an old Dual turntable that had a heavyweight platter something in the neighborhood of 7.5lbs, I think that would be the easiest method to get good inertial stability.

just got my 1st cutter I've poked around inside it but would prefer to have some technical and operating info before going too far.

hm maybe I have just been looking at the wrong ebay listings that seem to show stuff being sold as blanks that definitely have grooves cut in them. (ie not blanks at all).

I figured I have similar noob questions so why start a new thread ... I just wanted to mess around and cut some lofi punk to picnic plates or something can these low priced mono home recording units with crystal heads cut into something that hard? is this more a function of weight of "tracking" and ...
