Re: Left and Right channel sounds different

Great sound @PMST !! To answer your question @jtb, no I don't use it on playback. I have a test tone 0db that let me check if anything is wrong at playback and I'm really in the ballpark. It's only on the cutting side. But I would not be shy to use it on playback if my cartridge was the culprit. My ...

Re: Left and Right channel sounds different

Hey Jtb, Hope you're doing geat. I'm gonna be honest with you, I've tried a lot of different stuff, from removing Sourri mixer, changing all the connections, removing the optomizert, removing Main Unit RIAA and doing it with plug ins.... basically going nuts to try to fix stuff.... in the end funny ...

Re: New Blanks Source with polished edge

Just cut a 12" sounds very good! The polished edge is a super nice finishing touch. it's keeps me from ruining a blank while deburring the edge... lol happens to me too often.
Thanks Mary and good work.

Hearing Warning for T560 users

Hey fine people :) I’ve been through a scary episode last week while cutting and thought i’d share it with you as a reminder how of fragile we are. I’ve been on a rampage of cutting last week doing from 7:30am to 11:30pm. At one point with the sound of the cutterhead and vaccum, i lost hearing in my...

Re: Stylus wear always on the same side

Hey there, Same for me, always the right side until i found out that the stylus holder and the the head were not super symmetrical… Drop your needle on wasted blanks…. And look at the reflection of your stylus in the blanks… that really helped me. Now my head is always kink on one side and stylus la...

Re: Cutting Laquers on VR with feedback head

Eh Thanks a lot for answering, I thought about it as well the tolerance is a little too big for Laquers.
I saw that Jon (Sunbears) did it with a sp10 as well ... So I'll look into this

Thanks again

Cutting Laquers on VR with feedback head

Hey Guys, Just have a question for you. Years ago I bought the Precision plate and the motor to go with my VR, I was wondering if I would upgrade my cutterhead for feedback would it be possible to cut Laquer discs with the appropriate stone? Has anyone done this? Cuz I look at the space... and I don...

Re: Clicks & Pops VR issue / not on playback

Totally, it's a possibility!
In my case it was static, during winter time, my place is very dry and it was causing clicks during playback but only when I was actually cutting and monitoring
Since i now live at the bottom of the ocean and transformed into a mermaid, there's no more problem with that.

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

Thanks Handcut, I know the feeling, I almost sold mine when I was into deep. Thank you for sharing your infos, I know how frustrating it is. Especially when you open it and you see all the problems. But to have all the specifics in a doc would def be a great tool, especially for people who just boug...

It's a pleasure to help you , I hope the pictures we're useful That sense of community is what makes it so reassuring and special, since the creator is a no show! Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

Hello Fine people! I thought I'd chime in since I had a problem a couple of years ago... the rod inside the leading screw got bent over time, so to all of you who are tightening the screw too tight beware...lol I was in a production of 200 LP on lathecut... and had a tour coming... so I couldn't sto...

Re: VR : Noise ID - Sizzle?

Last time it happened to me was because of a bad alignement, try to reseat the diamond properly and make sure there's no dirt or anything in there.
Little details like that makes a whole world of difference... I painfully learned through out the years.

Re: Surface Noise with VR

Hey!! In the past it happened to me too a few times, sometimes it's the material you're cutting, sometimes it can be a flaw in the diamond. I had a diamond that lasted 5LP once. It's pretty frustrating I know. Sourri always makes people scared about stylus heating, I had a very great conversation wi...

Re: Using old PVC blanks for test cuts

Hey There,
It's absolutely fine, I'm always using old "already cut" blanks to set up new productions. Some scrap that still have some uncut space on them.
I do that for years and never had a problem, you can even heat the blank without cutting them when you feel they're not perfectly flat.

Re: Clicks & Pops VR issue / not on playback

I just checked.... and no signs of little flashes or anything.

It's very annoying... but at least it's not in the playback, I wonder if it's not related to little debris left in the groove after the cut.
maybe, maybe not. On the microscope I cannot see anything wrong

Re: Clicks & Pops VR issue / not on playback

I'm actually using Myshank antistatic wax... and it works pretty well for cutting... really smooth and the swarf is always picked up in the tube nicely. I feel the static really comes from the interaction with the " steel precision plate " and the disc . It never happens during summer, but to hear t...
