Yeah they can be cool. You don't know what you will see there. They are still rather small at this point but they are getting bigger.

The museum I volunteer at has sort of the same thing but there is a real to real intergrated into it. Pretty much none of it works though.

I have the same thing. The recording is clear but low and muffled sounding. I do not know if heating would help. That is something I have not gotten into yet.

No I do not think so. From what I have tried it seems to continue to work well. I do not think that the spray paint would dry on the pam. Plus if there was dust I think that it would get obsorbed into the paint. I have not been fooling with this to much cause I trying to finish school but I be exper...

Also the angle could be a factor. Try leaning it back if you can.

Well I used an old steel cutting needle also unheated. I do not know if that would make a difference. That is funny because I was able to lay all of the weight on the cd with out scratching or scrapping. Maybe your saphire is not dull enough. Plus, to be specific, I am using old aol cds and other so...

Well diamond disc was up and down right? I was actually thinking about an up and down cutter or a edison diamond disc electric pick head.

Well this time instead of smearing it around I put a glob of silicon in the middle and slowly worked it out to the outer edges using that food cover plastic (syran wrap?). It did have a blemish but I think that it was some sort of hard piece of silicon or something. The majority of the groove was ok...

I mean like 1990s to today. And new music too. Although those 10" ones sound cool. What are the titles? Are they 78 or 33 1/3?

Ok wow. I was so inspired to do this yesterday that I ran out into my tool shed and found an old tube of caulk (white) that had hardened near the tip. I cut it open and spooned out a bunch onto a 45 (donna summer?). I spread it around (keeping it thin to make sure that it would dry; maybe about a 1/...

Yeah it is even deep enough to scratch with and the fidelity holds up well after a lot of playing. The only problem that I am having now is that my new head is lower than the old one. Because there is the flange that locks onto the middle of the platter as you cut to turn the lead screw, my head can...

A really good example of a newer mono record is Smashing Pumpkins Adore. The sound is amazing.

Found this too. Not a lot of explaination though. Basically the exact same thing that you are doing. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://blog.makezine.com/39381_05_380.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2006/05/how_to_copy_a_vinyl_recor.html&usg=__uuwM18uYVY5HLRNpjPKbk0-X0Cw=&h...

No. That is my next project. That is a good idea though; it would probably get rid of a lot of that "bassyness."

WOW. So you made a silicon mold of a 45 and then just poured urethane on? See I need to get some silicon. I tried it with wax and the urethane fused with the wax. I used one of those flexi-disc Time Life magazine records. They are slightly smaller than a 45 but they are 33 1/3. Did you cut the recor...

Cutting cds

I have made a small advancement in the cutting of cds. After spending an entire afternoon running around scratching every material I could find with a needle, I found that with cd plastic, it works better when you turn the needle around. Instead of cutting you sort of press in a groove. It works sur...
