No sorry my guess is 40-50's - i know from the emi laquers preserved with the lathe that it was used for recording the horse racing back in the day - i presume they would take the discs and replay them on radio...pellegrino707 wrote:it looks really amazing!
Do you know when it was produced?

Re: UNIVERSAL RECORDER - PROFESSIONAL
that lathe is on the cover of the Robert K Morrison book, "Disk Recording 1930-1960" he talks, mostly anecdotally about it's use and function Yes. however the one on the cover i note is not that same as mine... seen a few but they have different lathe bases, and the flywheel/motor config is differe...

Do you still have one mono unit left?
I have a Grampian Cutting Head type D mono
and this might be the correct amp for this system?
Thanks

UNIVERSAL RECORDER - PROFESSIONAL
Hi trolls, I am reassembling a Universal Recorder - It is a 'professional' model - type: 113041 - made in inglewood california Unfortunately those that dismantled it, lost all the photos they had taken - and they didn't supply a manual of any kind. I have a couple of photos which give me very little...

I started a record label in 2001 and called it Fabel Music... moved into event production when CDs started to take a turn for the worse and have returned to this part of the business since the event industry bottomed ou...

...you could need to include the knowledge of the polarity of the inputs and outputs of the converter which feed the goniometer (some converters invert absolute polarity without the manual saying, or if the manual is wrong - has happened with big name brands), as well as the pin-conformity (i.e., p...

Quick question you might be able to answer: I am running a software plugin to assess the phase and image - gonoimeter - on both the input to the amps, and the output of the stylus as the head cuts. If the image in the output looks by comparison to be UPSIDE DOWN on the vertical plane (left to right ...

Thanks Guy, I have the Dynamic cutting head. Thanks for the clarity around phasing - I will perform tests on the coils. I would say the image has been 'nulled' or collapsing...but without an example i really cant say - the internet is a useful resource - im sure i can locate an example to compare! S...

Hi Guy, Thankyou for the detailed reply. I failed to report in my first post - im working on a relatively simple cutting setup - one involving Souri's vinyl-recorder. So i'm entry level - but keen to learn how to cut the best i can with what i have. I have employed your test tone suggestions and thi...

When i monitor the track to be cut with a plugin that allows me to hear the mono/sum and L/R difference - i can hear the image clearly, but when i do the same to the track after it's be cut (i record it b...
