I'm a trade secret free zone cos i don't have any. And if I don't post sometimes is because I'm busy, or on my off shift. I may be proffessional, but only because I'm paid to do this. I'd probably be the one to learn from the non pro's. Eitherway, information is free, we just share it. I can't tell ...

Third did you try increasing the cutting angle slightly more forward? I recently tried an Adamant (for Westrex) and didn't notice that it was slightly longer than the Transco; at least this one was - thought there was a 'standard' for this. Without adjusting the cutting angle I was getting the "plo...

Re: MDC lacquers
At the moment I've got H3811 batch cutting ok, I have the heat at 0.65 throughout the disc a I found that increasing towards the centre wasn't good at all. I had to muck about with the zero depth position on the carriage (vms80) ie the cutting angle of the head. The prblems with surface noise and ap...

Hello everyone,
can i ask a quick question. Is anyone having any issues with MDC stock at the moment...particularly with excessive surface noise...noise with "frying" characteristic?
Or any cutting pin problems?
Thanks in advance forany input

Hey, Emtec was sold to Rmgi, in Holland This the webiste: www.rmgi.nl RMG bought the manufacturing equipment from Emtec - not the business. "When EMTEC closed down, RMG International acquired the EMTEC manufacturing and quality assurance equipment necessary to convert and complete the tape producti...

If you use a Mac with a 4 channel sound card you can run the first stereo signal in real time for preview and the second stereo signal offset, as Third describes, for cutting. The Neumann book will tell you the delay times (oops... offset times) for 45 and 33.3rpm. There is no reason why this shoul...

Re: Analogue Cuts
...only two manufacturers of tape in the world today I know one is Pyral with the ex BASF production facilities the other I am not sure of... BASF was sold to Emtech who recently sold it to MPO France, a leader in optical disc production so I doubt they have any interest in magnetic tape. Pyral was...

we also cut from digital sources without delay line. it's not quite advanced head cutting, but negates the use of the crappy a-d-a portion of even modern delay lines... two stereo channels out of sadie, one delayed, ie offset rather than delayed. the first is the control, the second is the program,....

i have no idea what the serial number is, where do i find it?, i've looked Dont know. You might ask why do I ask that question? Because VMS80 serial number 008 was "stolen" through fraud. Some guy in the Midlands UK bought it from Festival Records Australia and never paid for it. You might ask, "wh...

When I visited Transco many years ago, Fred did say that they bought the aliminium blanks from a manufacturer and simply coated them with lacquer. He did also say that local studios would send their badly cut lacquer discs back for recycling... the discs were placed in boiling water to strip the la...

I am sure you will enjoy your stay here, a little more specific to cutting quite broad as there are a lot of cutters that use real early stuff and their input is quite interesting
Cheers
