The Mysterious Polygram pitch/depth control

Hi all guys I want to replace is the Polygram pitch control, which started to work "so and so" well before removing the SP272 and doing the upgrade I recently did (new monitoring system, etc). I already have a spare pitch control to install, but before doing that, I'd like to give the Polygram pitch...

Suspension box VMS70

Hi all I need to change/check a couple things in the wirings of the VMS70 suspension box - I thought I had the really complete schematics of everything, because I've used them plenty of times, but with my big surprise I've just discovered that the pin arrangement of the Siemens connector hooked in t...

Re: Pheenix AD12's , What have they done to them!!!

"Plug and pray"  Hey Don't worry about the unloading arm - the "in" position is still given by a proximity sensor. Don't have to tell you where it is, you know that. So hydraulics won't start if the arm is not fully in. BUT The PLC values of its reed sensor are there for a very ex...

Re: For sale: 2x complete AD1202 + spareparts

Trying to, man... no need to enlarge capacity here, just optimize IMHO. Cutting and galvanics are still the head job. But will keep 1 or 2 of the old Alphas as spare machines. We're still using them, particularly that press coming from B.K. and previously from Nottingham, you probably remember that ...

For sale: 2x complete AD1202 + spareparts

We got to make space, so I decided to let them go. One of the two presses is still producing once in a while, so it has moulds mounted (high performance 140g, from the early 90's); the other one has no moulds, but it has been fully operational until 4-5 months ago. Both of them come with their hydra...

Re: weird honeycomb pattern after plating

This doesn't look like a plating issue but rather like a silvering issue. Most likely a "not so good" reaction. It looks like the silver film is weak, so it tends to crack where there ain't close grooves which stop it from cracking. But the problem is not confined to that area, IMHO: in the picture ...

Re: Technical specialist required for alpha toolex ad12

Hi, I just give you some ideas coming from what I've experienced in the last 15 years. From the picture you have attached and the description you have provided, yours looks like a problem of "weak" heat exchange. In other words, the center bushes don't transfer the heating and the cooling like the m...

Re: Strange flaw on records

Record is not properly cooled down, just add some seconds to the cooling cycle. Also I'd check that the hoses are properly connected to the inlet and outlet of the mould, as the heat exchange should start from the center and move towards the edge, which instead looks properly cooled (well shaped) in...

Re: Bad lacquers quality

Nice one. I found out that the flipside is fairly better. There is less difference from the edge to the inside, and if you're lucky, there are no small bumps as well. The small difference in thickness among the various sectors of the lacquer's surface stays almost unchanged though - and it's quite a...

Bad lacquers quality

Hi all, I understand that despite Covid, demand for cutting has risen lately, but MDC could send less and better lacquers to Europe rather than more and almost useless... with the last batch of 14" masters, I managed to cut decently only discomixes and short LPs ... with the longer ones, I had to re...

Re: VMS70/SX74/VG74B Overload when lowering head

Hi, I've got this issue several times. If SAL goes in overload, when you lower the head and open the circuit, and you have no modulation, this most likely happens because there is no signal continuity as the SAL expects to be. So what you have to do is 1st of all measure with a tester the Ohms in th...

Vinyl Sleeves - Spain

To all manufacturers: please avoid this spanish broker, unless the jobs are paid upfront. This customer is handling a wide load of orders, and in front of this, he will ask to the manufacturer a credit line of 60 days for the payment, but you will see that every 60 days he will pay always a little l...

Re: NEW TOOLEX ALPHA AD12 PRESS

Fantastic. Just a couple things I've noticed - on these machines - as an experienced owner and user of 5 old Alphas: 1. patty loader goes half way in, then it stops, then it goes full way in. There must be a (good) reason for this. Maybe - just my guessing - the reason might be a more precise placin...

Re: What would happen if you respray/resilver an acetate?

Re-silvering is not uncommon at all, as Mossy says. Who says that you cannot play back the lacquer? If you do it carefully, with a good stylus and not too much weight on it, then it will not be damaged at all. Sure, you maybe cannot do this 10 times, but it's not a given. There is a significant diff...

Re: New Video... Some complete cycles by Ennebi - Italy

I have always been quite skeptic on my posts regarding the new presses, mostly because there has been a lot of advertising and what the "public" could see were just projects/drawings, without any kind of action. Now, I wouldn't like to sound too much patriotic, but it comes to my mind the 80's motto...
