the left side of the feedscrew was rising up when I turned the crank. It was minimal before and I had only barely noticed it but it became progressively worse apparently to the point that the entire screw was rising about a quarter inch when I turned the crank. Peter pointing it out made me look a l...

record intro/lead in skipping issues
greetings, I've been having this trouble with my lead ins - hand cranking on my overhead lathe. When playing back, the needle skips a little. I'm playing back on a shitty turntable with admittedly not the best needle but this turntable doesn't skip on the lead ins/outs on other records so I'm sure t...

Hey, just curious how your cuts are coming along. You should go into business making these! cuts are bueno! had a bit of a consistent pitch issue but I think I'm working it out. Otherwise I've cut the hell outta some records. I would love to get into production on these but it would take $$$ - enou...

A few notes about Laser discs
Hey Ya'll, now that I got this cutter up and running I've been doing numerous cuts on laserdiscs and here's what I've found; The noise level is getting quieter the more I practice. It's to a very acceptable level now, I'd say. For some reason, the cut on the outside is noisier than the middle cut......

Hi, Wow! Fantastic! What are you using for the motor and platter? I got an old rek-o-kut k33H (apparently the "H" version motor is like that of the Rondine model) disassembled that and used the motor and platter mount. I needed something really powerful - it worked out well - still a solid speed. I...

my cutter - fresh out the lab
Well, this is just finished and I've managed to do some successful cuts on obscure surfaces I find laying around the house. All of which are pretty noise, but whatcha gonna do? Happy to have the thing - started it on Monday, finished on Wednesday (I make things for a living; folktek.com) The plinth ...
