Presses...

Horns never really use to matter unless the record jumped - usually they come off as soon as the stylus passes over them ....I always thought it was the plating that was the cause - not the master/laq...?

Another one bites the dust....

Just found out that my Old Toolex, which was a rickety old thing, made up of various bits and pieces we found at scrap merchants - but - perfectly serviceable , and it was runnig up untill 18 months ago - got weighed in as scrap some months ago, along with all the plumbing, boiler, etc that I had so...

pressing in the UK....supply outweighing demand...?

Using an old thread for this - but it's essentially the same principal ... As the list goes - there are 3 pressing houses left in the UK, the Vinyl Factory, Bob Total , and the Pheonix guys whom I don't know of - (-would like to visit just to see the gear...!) What Im wondering is, 10 years ago when...

Pressing with toolex...

Good to see some serious debate on Record Manufacture - vinyl is most certainly NOT dead.....! Think I'll sit on the fence a little, suffice to say that Chris Zenith is a True knowledge on Toolex alpha's, as these were the problems I had when setting up for test pressings - where I'd run the 1st 20 ...

Underground Pressing plants...

Thought the majority of the coluored vinyls were coming in off the continent, not from the UK - they certainly always seemed to be sold by eastern european guy's at utrecht whenever I see them for sale. Even lving in England, I'd not heard of these guy's - but there were an awful lot for sale on eba...

Toolex alpha 1202 - is there one for sale in the UK?

I'm sure there are still some unused Toolex machines in the UK - as I'm re-starting production up in the midlands, looking for one to go with the 7" we 've (hopefully!) just bought... - I love the old alpha's, I know they have their difficulties - we always had two down at I.P.C. , BUT we always had...

New Pressing plants....

...This is all very interesting! on the one hand - companies are going down, because they are not "galvanising " themselves, as it were - and on the other, we should all be helping each other out - none of us would be manufacturing an antiquated technology if : a) We didn't make money out it - b) th...
