Talk about a long shot.... I emailed Pyral Products in France ...
It appears EMI licensed Pyral formula, so maybe a retired EMI employee could help too

Re: Any news on the suppossed Sony presing plant?

Thanks a lot for the information. It doesn't make sense using old equipment now that there's available new and reliable machines. Which part of the world you are in?

It appears that after cutting they have to be passivated to avoid corrossion/rusting. Are they stable af...

Any news on the suppossed Sony presing plant?

It was talked about more than a year ago,

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2017/jun/29/sony-to-open-vinyl-pressing-factory-in-japan-records

but no news since, and Sony really could assemble a plant not in a year but in months

Irmler Record Press Question

Dear all I just read this, http://blog.item24.de/en/article-detail/show-blog-article//pioneering-vinyl-pressing.html . It appears that they sold at least 5 new presses. That would add to Pheenix, Newbilt and Viryl (that I remember at the moment) I tried to search the Irmler website but it is only av...

"High Resolution Vinyl" - Direct laser cutting of stampers

Hello

https://www.analogplanet.com/content/hd-vinyl-your-record-playing-future

I just read this entry at https://www.analogplanet.com/

Do you see any advantages, opportunities, disadvantages or risks for vinyl, and for record cutting and record cutters?

Greetings

Re: Dealing with piano distortion on inner grooves

Dear Mr. George I am quite new here but I dare to make some questions. Trying to understand your graphics I don't get what you mean for radii and angles. I understand that you have horizontal and vertical coordinates of the cutter tip, but how that gets converted to angles? How do you decide which w...

And about Hand Drawn Pressing in Texas? http://www.handdrawnpressing.com/ They are using new Viryl presses.

Re: There are no dumb questions

Thank yoy all. I am glad you think I am an student but regrettably I am a little bit older than that. I am working at this with a friend of the university, curiously both of us biologists, as a hobby project. I think I understand the behaviour of RIAA curve and its inverse, at a theoretical level (d...

Re: There are no dumb questions

Thank you again. We are not really trying to design a pitch control system. A friend of mine and I are trying to create a "vinyl cutting simulator" so we would need to know what parameters are used in order to calculate lateral displacement of the cutting "needle" form a perfect spiral. Not that we ...

Re: There are no dumb questions

Thanks a lot. From your answer I understand that usually "variable pitch" is appliead in a continuous way and not in a discrete manner. The second question remains unanswered. Are there any formulas relating music contents with lateral needle displacement? I suppose so as variale pitch devices would...
