Re: Selling Scully lathe / Neumann cutting equipment

Hi everyone, thanks for your interest. This is currently on PAUSE as I have a UK buyer who has first refusal. If/when this is back on the market I will put a message in here.
Apologies.

Re: Selling Scully lathe / Neumann cutting equipment

Please nore, this lathe is now mounted on a sturdier and nicer wooden bench-style table and also the cork lining on the turntable has been taken off and the platter sanded/flattened to be in a much better and flatter state

Selling Scully lathe / Neumann cutting equipment

Hi all After having this unique lathe for 6 years or so, I'm finally thinking of packing it in and selling up. It was bought in a fairly rough state and has been given lots of love and care and several upgrades/replacements over the years. It now runs nicely with a brand new pitch/depth control and ...

FOR SALE: Capps vari-pitch computer

Selling an original Capps vari-pitch - it is NOT fully working but could be with some looking after. It has recently been removed from my Scully lathe - when last used it was workable but the GPI needle would often jump from low to high during cutting so the dial had to be 'ridden' manually during c...

Re: Making money / Supporting yourself cutting records?

If you run a record shop, at least you have time while people aren't checking out to play with it, and it is usually a good way to bring people in and have them talk about your shop around time once you learn what you are doing. So, you can look at it that way. Do runs while you are working. Yeah t...

Re: Making money / Supporting yourself cutting records?

I'm investing my time and money in cutting for me. Period. I love records. I love DJ'ing. I love music. If I can recoup some of my expensive hobby cash monies, by all means I'd be than happy to do so. However, I am not planning on that even remotely happening. Bonus if it does though. Good to hear....

Re: Making money / Supporting yourself cutting records?

Hi - some interesting discussion here. We all either know or suspect that cutting dubs alone is almost profitless, or at least doesn't bring in much more than a minimum wage job. Can anyone give advice on where / how they obtained the capital to invest in a cutting lathe? We managed to borrow money ...

Re: unscrewing problem

Hi - I have a similar issue - I went to tighten the stylus pin that holds the shank on my Presto 1C cutterhead and it snapped in the centre. Now the middle piece is stuck inside the cutterhead and completely recessed, with nothing to grip. Also there is not + or phillips head as the bit that is stuc...

Cleaning a scully 501 lathe

Hi guys - apologies if this is a repost but I am looking for some tips of deconstructing my modified scully 501 lathe and giving it a clean. Doesn't look like it has had a clean and an oil for many years from the previous owner and whilst i don't think it is causing me issues, it is something i want...

Neumann SX68 OR SX74 Wanted

Anyone selling a Neumann stereo head? Not in a massive rush but looking at fundraising for the future and how much funding I would need. If anyone has a ballpark figure for one that is in decent condition, that would be great - and also the chances of finding a decent one in the UK or europe? Thanks...
