Neumann KS70 cassette for next donor to give 70 USD
Another cassette is offered for the next donor of at least 70 USD to Lathe Trolls. The KS70 cassette for Neumann SP consoles is used for automated cutting where the number of titles is entered and it does something for this. By preselecting the number of titles, I suppose?, it ignores the last segme...

Re: Neumann Digital Timer
Looks sweet, Paul. Is it four channels on one switch, again, or do I need two (or 4!) of those "beauts"?

Re: Neumann Digital Timer
Now glowing, and counting , in Dietrich's old SP 272. Just had to fix the start/stop switch which had a broken internal contact. The thing seems to handle either 110 or 220 vAC indifferently, other than the intensity of the lamps. But the logic gets a steady 5V, either way. Cutter's egg timer... htt...

Neumann PG70 cassette for next donor to give 70 USD
For the first Lathe Troll donor to give Steve E. 70 USD, Dingbat L. S. D. offers one Test Tone Generator cassette module for Neumann SP consoles. Has frequencies for calibrating the preview path (includes 200 Hz). Probably not working, but included with the cassette will be the original schematics, ...

Re: Neumann Digital Timer
I found a blurb on the SP79C_Data-E.pdf (search with Metacrawler.com) which might be explaining this, although the one I have reads, DSU 74, and came in the SP 272 (disc cutter's bar-with-ash-tray). "...A 5-digit LED production timer, automatically started from the lathe functions, is a standard fea...

Re: Neumann Digital Timer
Ok... These are hard to get info on. I found so far nothing on it in the Neumann manual CD-ROM from eBay. I have started a thread on it, here: http://www.discolathe.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22 There is a triptych showing the nixie tube display. It's definitely an AC device with on-board rectification...

Re: 100% correct stylus heating
Here's the problem with just improving the sound by heat: Too much (or no) heat - as seen at GS: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/attachments/mastering-forum/325114d1358005193-lead-groove-45-rpm-vinyl-test-pressing-img041.jpg Same as can happen when no heat is applied, curiously. But at conditions whe...

Hi Tim E., No worries, Mate, I'm checked out for SCUBA since 1979 . The local instructor was also a professional photographer who would take photos while leaning out the window of a single-propeller airplane (while others piloted...). Buddy system with a Daredevil? @Tubefan- I did find [He] at the B...

Re: 100% correct stylus heating
Hi, Unfortunately, adding heat during a cut is flirting with both chip fire and the very horning one is trying to preclude by heating the stylus in the first place. One trusts the current meter for reference, but the only way to verify that the heat is not too low is to do a test cut on the lacquer ...

Re: Ortofon Network
Hi TubeFan, Actually, Ortofon recommend [H] over [He]. From the Ortofon GE/GO 741 instruction manual, p. 3: " Cooling During recording, the cutterhead [sic] may be filled with a good thermal conducting gas. Hydrogen is best suited but for safety reasons, helium is often preferred. About twice the po...

Re: Neumann Extender Cable
I had a similar issue on the new LS-76 where the tt wouldn't stop even when the pushbutton was unlit. I had noticed this mode of misbehavior once before while working on the older LS-76 tt servo drive board. There's an op amp, 5534, which can function for other signaling, even if one of its legs is ...

...speaking of "The Lathe," Here's a photo I hope Flo will like. I have at last located the correct Brooks-Mite flow reduction valve/meter (showing 0,05 - 0,4 SCFH legends) for LS-76 #660 that he sent me last Fall as a back up machine for #656. What a one-man army FloKa has been for lathe trolls! Bi...

M'kay, not sure what you mean by enumerated "Bwoaahs~!," but I do like the full form version of that word. Galvanoplasty. (for Rhino Records?) You know, boogievan, most pressing plants make their own electroforms or are already working with electroformers. And most trolls who aren't pressing don't c...

Did you ever notice that you can't buy a tv anymore that you can know before turning it on whether or not the volume is up? Sure, you can try to remember to push the arrow button to turn the digital volume control to 0 before you turn it off so that the next time you turn on the set, it won't blare ...

...let us know if ye search parts for GE/GO 741 or DSS cutter or L. J. Scully "The Lathe" parts hard to find. We have some inventory, now, so can at least consult on locating/cloning some items and have good partners in searching for parts in China, USA, and Lithuania. Have a great session!
