Re: In need of tips, advice and suggestions for pressing records

I can’t help in any way, shape or form but it’s brilliant to read there is someone out there pressing records and wanting to improve the quality of their work despite the people around them. Hope you get it sorted.

Re: Potential cutter head problem?

I was thinking that it’s a mechanical thing too, although I have never seen this head in person.

Anything having become loose or fractured could cause vibration/distortion. I suspect if you try feeling about for anything loose or rattling, even just a tiny amount, you may find a clue to the issue.

Re: Book: Basic Disc Mastering, 3nd Ed. (Boden)

Thanks for taking the time to ask. Could you ask if possible, if it has guides for making cutting styli in the book please? As this is something I am keen to read about. Checked the 3rd edition, and it Does Have Exact dimensional diagrams of the facets of several "models" of cutting stylii that wer...

Re: Book: Basic Disc Mastering, 3nd Ed. (Boden)

I too would happily pay for the full edition in pdf but it guess the issue there would be it finding it’s way online for free and the publisher then losing out.

Interesting idea, I guess there’s a reason for it having not been done but would be interested to hear the science behind it.

Re: Circuit Breaker value for Presto 1D

Hi, Actually, it is possible to measure the voice coil temperature using the temperature coefficient of the copper wire in the coil as a temperature probe. I've used this approach when working on my own DIY heads. See the attached paper for more info. I have made a simple circuit board to make this...

I can’t help on the pump but if the metric keys don’t fit have you tried imperial?

Maybe post a photo of the pump and what you’re working with, someone may be able to help figure it out

as someone who is restoring a lathe and having to build a lot from scratch, I can echo what has been said here already, these things are simple in principle but in practice there are a lot of nuances and they're actually pretty complex despite how they first appear. its relatively easy task to make ...

Re: Rails & stepper motors

You need some sort of isolation, a belt would probably be most affective, that’s the route I have gone down at least. Depends upon your setup and how you want it all to fit together
