Re: how-to emboss

I have seen in youtube someone use Turtle Wax in jelly form, maybe you should give it a try. Best, Bob I will look out for some - I was thinking about the cleaning of the plastic first though. I just apply the Turtle Wax spray after peeling off the protective film from my Polycarbonate blanks, but ...

Re: how-to emboss

Yup it's the first one in the tin. I bought a juicer and attached a platter to the spindle, so im using that to spin the blank, then i wipe the crc in, followed by the turtlewax, on the high speed spinnint platter. Before I cut I wipe the disk on the turntable to remove any dust Is CRC a brand of a...

any reason why this wouldn't work?

those big shop vacuums like the nilfisk seem to be pretty noisy....

Re: Cutting timecode vinyl using T560?

Serato and Traktor (and most of the DVS companies) have proprietry tones, with extra noises on them partly to make them proprietry but mostly to give them features as listed above (position, direction etc) I've heard of lots of people trying to copy them with dubs, it used to be kind of possible, ju...

Re: How do you build a mount for a stereo cutting head?

I'm also interested in this - I'm looking at building a new mount to accompodate a Caruso cutting head, a motorised dropping/lifting mechanism, and a dashpot. I Don't know if I should be building it really rigid to attach to my Presto 14-B (vaguely similar to 8D design) or if it should have some sor...

Re: tungsten vs sapphire

great stuff - i wonder if you'd be so kind as to share how you have oyur setup calibrated? what weight/angle you use? your results are sounding better than mine, but i think its my brain thats the problem, not the kit.

Re: WTB Presto 75 Dashpot/Damper Assembly

I'm thinking the same as Boryo - I might have to get one of Jesus' dashpots! unless there is an easy way for me to mod the airpot i have already? I only got it becasue I saw on here that they would send a free sample if you wanted to try it out so i went for it, and I can see how it works, but the s...

Re: Record cutting as composition / production

We did one with an artist called Redmist from Chile, who put together a library of instrument samples, and we layed it out geometrically on the disc so you can just drop the needle to any of the short tracks on the record and they are all musical loops from different instruments. with a loop pedal ...

Re: WTB Presto 75 Dashpot/Damper Assembly

that thing looks crazy!

I might be interested in a replica dashpot if I can't make my Airpot work.

Anyone got any advice on how to measure the improvements/benefits? what should I be looking for in the sound when I cut with/without dashpot?

Re: Record cutting as composition / production

"Cool, know there's quite a few scratch records that are oriented in this way.. is that how you describe your stuff?" yep that's exactly what we do. We did one with an artist called Redmist from Chile, who put together a library of instrument samples, and we layed it out geometrically on the disc so...

Re: Record cutting as composition / production

thanks for the links! maybe not your thing either becasue it's not exactly PART of the composition as it's done but.... 10shun / Tenshun is on here, he uses his self-cut beats in his compositions. https://10shun.bandcamp.com/ I make records specifically for being used in compositions. The whole side...

Re: New Project- Presto 14B / Caruso

thanks for your reply :) I found i got more noise with softer pvc planks, but i might have been doing something wrong. I am just using this 5C and Sapphire to learn the basics. I will eventually move on to a Caruso which i have, and the amps are built. I just need a mounting bracket, diamond stylus,...
