Re: MONO diy cutter head

Some weeks ago I tried to built one of two speakers. Very stiff, with only 6Khz and not much amplitude. Magnets do influence each other

Next weeks I try to build another one, but not at the Desktop :D

Omnitronic DD-3220 - 16 2/6 Half Speed

Hello, I installed a switch that half down the platter speed down to 16 2/6 and 22,25. Playback is no problem. But when I emboss at 16 2/6, it comes to an effect, you called "flutter". -> A frequence modulation by speed changes of the platter when cutting. I'm not sure if I can decrease this Problem...

Re: new guy here a few questions

Hey Fred, you are on a good way. I am very interestet how it sounds and the groove looks like. But I think you need more stiffness. For the head take better epoxy instead of hotglue. Mayby its possible to saturate the cardboaerd whth resin.

Re: vms 80 Neumann Joana Polinska Replica Clone

@My Shank: Sorry, I didn't want to blame you or others to keep away knowledge from the newbee-trolls. --> In the last month I spend MUCH time to grind / lap steel stylus... so I loose much time. In future I wan't to buy some stylus from you, but I'm a poor guy, who has to wait some month. it's very confusing when you read the first postings of sakusz.... bad game ? ... He/she made too big mistakes... , But to built these clone it takes several hours on a metal workshop. I wanna know his/her statement to this game ! And now, I know why so much people keep their secrets of making recor...

I use a wet sheet of paper between disc and platter. Use destillated water.

I don't know where it's from.

You people get good results. I'm searching for a good saphire stylus too.

Re: Sapphire needles from Saint-Petersburg

Please notice, in the price list a transco saphire stylus costs about 110$! I buyed two of alexstations stylus. One with a big tip-radius and one without(why?)! I don't found any material to get them work without terrible noise. (realy unhearable) I wanna know if I can get any payable saphir stylus ...

Re: Steel-Stylus - noisy days

I know about heating wire, but I think heat will decrease the lifetime of these "cheap ebay HSS", but I try it tomorrow. I've enough konstantan-wire here around. Heaten up the PET-G with a heatlamp ended in a warping plate. My grinding machine got 60U/min an so the hole process lasts more than one d...

Re: Steel-Stylus - noisy days

...I grinded again and again... tested it in polycarbonate and was angry about the noise. Then I tested PET-G and the noise is going back for 5db :) if I read the statistic-analyse of cooledit96 right. I got my first real cutted record! With no vacuum, I got two hands full of an endless chip :) No t...

Re: Steel-Stylus - noisy days

Does the wilcox stylus work with polycarbonate or vinyl? Works any non diamond/saphir stylus on PC ? 300$ for a cutting stylus is to much for experiments for me. I only have casual job, so the next month the money is reserved for spear-parts to repair car. How long will stand the apollo/tranco saphi...

Re: Steel-Stylus - noisy days

Thanks. @rimms3: I only tried to cut one ore two grooves. I guess a HSS Stylus won't work longer than a half hour on PC. @Markrob: I try to use finer abrasive. Its difficult to grind the front-facet. so it looks bad. Each abrasive particle cracks some material out of the HSS stylus so the surface wi...

Steel-Stylus - noisy days

Hello Trolls, in the last week I spend my time in grinding cutting stylus. (not for embossing) I use 2mm HSS steel rods and after searching I found abrasive paper with a value of 7000. One of my self grinded stylus got a loud "hiss"noise, and the second one got a general loud noise. Too loud for lis...

Re: diy transducer experiments

Thanks,

@Bahndahn: I don't understand what you mean with the aluminium in the bottom plate. The iron/steel should be nearly at the point of magnetical saturation. I think FEMM doesn't consider about saturation. :?:

@Fela: ok I try to make it stiffer. And yes I use cyanacrylate.

Re: diy transducer experiments

thanks, the gap is 1.5mm. The cone is out of copy-paper which is saturated with cyanacrylat. In my first build, I use two v-springs to avoid a rubbing coil. But I removed one of them, cause I thought it will block higher frequencies. I testet it with white noise and found no high freqs excluded of a...

diy transducer experiments

I got two 40x23x6mm ring-neodym magnets (realy strong!). The area in the ring are magnets. The rest is steel. ringmagnet.jpg transd1.jpg t8.jpg I got a bad frequency response. only up to 5khz t10.jpg The whole coil+cone+rod+spring weight about 2.35g. Its 0.2mm wire. Now I try thinner wire + rubberme...
