Re: Who can help me with my VR T560 cutterhead?

I also ordered these speakers. Thank you for finding it ! I built now 4 heads out of tweeters, they costs all about 20€ to 40€ and got the issues to be a bit differently, althought they are the same type. I know the price makes a part of the soundquality , but I only see my lathe as a test-lathe. Tr...

head response - maybe mechanical probs?

Hi, I bulild my new head out of two tweeters. I take away some material from the membran to give the transducer lesser stiffnes and weight. I "cut" white noise with self ginded embossing needles out of HSS. After I embossed white noise (mono with 45°St-Head), I made a freq. analysis (see below). I s...

Code: Select all

 No gears in spindle drive
Mayby - disadvantage
In my opinion, buy better a some years old used machine for the same money.

Re: Very big problem with cutterhead vinylrecorder!

Have the fuses the same values (amp/delay)? Mayby...one of them saved the coil and the other Fuse failed. Check the coils with an ohm-meter.

Re: DIY Feedback

Thanks for these information. I never see a diamond stylus. With my ebay-stylus I get terrible noise on polycarbonat. I grinded some stylus out of HSS and they made same noise like these russian Stylus.

I already telled you this in a pm. I think the noise results because the missing of the the burnish fasets. The main cutting edges should have some kind of bevel.

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.

very good discussion

I got two of these ring-magnet 40x23x6mm. This is my plan. Could it work ? Will the steel go in saturation (but not in seen in Femm Simulation)??

Re: need help please...

not only the hights are better. I found out that the you can increase the amplitude before the clipping begins, when the weight is very low. But playback needle jumps because some "negative" lateral movement of the stylus makes some very thin or fragmented groove. This is the everyday problem of a w...

Re: Advance Balls

My selfmade advance ball is 13mm away from the stylus and its sometimes to far away for the wobblediscs. I'm interestet in a picture of the felt pad. Here is my low budged solution: Photo0559.jpg Bad picture. I can adjust it with the wheel at the top of the head. Photo0560.jpg But I made only a few ...

Re: Platter Motor option, E-Bike

I think with a heavy platter it should be a good choice for direct drive. I hope bicycle ball bearings doesn't create a noise :?: . I dream of a journal bearing (gleitlager) turning lathe head stock.

A old turnig lathe could be greate record lathe.

Thanks, thats very interesting. I thought that the ball rolls on the surface of the disc, but now I understand that it's fixed, or not? I try to build it.

Re: Advance Balls

How does the advance ball working ? How is the ball mounted? I got big problems with warped discs out of polycarbonat. I try to glue them on the platter, so I searching für a better solution. I think ball bearings, shouldn't work for that.

Re: Another trash lathe... Blow up the coils

Hi nach Bremen, Woher kriegt man hier Schneidstichel? So now, I built my first cutting head, but I need a better grinded stylus. My homemade stylus have a to big radius at the top(guess more than 1 mikron). Its more difficult than grinding an ambossing stylus. I need to much wight on the head to cut...

Re: Another trash lathe... Blow up the coils

Hello, my computer crashed and so I lost my passwords, but now everything is allright. The project continues. My new Tweeters are more solid and first I removed the plastic from them. I built a new head with some fuses in the cable. Head can drive up and down with an servo motor, controlled by a pot...

That table (mohs?) means low alloyed Steel. High aloyed and hardened Steel which is used for forming metal, wood or plastic whould be much higher situated on this table. It whould be compete with tungsten.

Hello, I'm from east germany and since years I got the dream to build a record-lathe.My english is not good and I hope that I don't confuse with the words. I didn't find much information about the cutting process in the internet. Only the site from vinylrecorder-com gave me some informations. So my ...
