Re: Technics MN6042 Pitch IC

The only SP-10 that uses the MN6042 IC is the MK3 - it's only used in the 'tables that have digital variable pitch.

Re: Technics MN6042 Pitch IC

If I remember the next time I have my controller open. There'd have to be a far wider frequency drift than my board has to manifest as an issue visible with that test though.

Re: Technics MN6042 Pitch IC

Or an SP-15, or even an SP-02 but I can't be 100% sure on the latter as I've never seen a schematic for it.

Technics MN6042 Pitch IC

As most folks familiar with the Technics 'tables with digital pitch control know, the pitch synthesizer chip, MN6042, is very static sensitive and prone to failure. What seems to have escaped everyone's attention is that most working chips aren't working right. I've measured several samples, and the...

Re: Technics prototype hype: Grand Class SL-1200GAE

Steve E. - I work from home, so drop me an e-mail and we can coordinate. I've been looking in to the Technics motors more, and have learned more about BLDC motors. I've designed a replaced for the notorious MN6042 IC, and am in the process of looking at possible improvements elsewhere. To that end,...

Re: Technics prototype hype...

Just a touch more than the 16kg-cm of the MK3  The 0.007% @33 W&F spec seems rather impressive as well, though I've no reference for how other cutting motors spec. On my MK3 I'm at the floor of the measurement at 0.02% JIS. Taking a second look the position detection coils are in the same p...

Re: Technics prototype hype...

The specs are also in the picture I posted. The stator of the SP-02 in that picture looks identical to that in the MK3, though the FG coil and position detection coils/rotor appear to be below the rotor due to the beefed up bearing.

Re: You wanna innovate? Make a good hi torque turntable

Even though I don't know much about lathes or cutting, I do own an SP-10MK3 that I refurbished myself, as well as a few MKII and MK2As. I thought I'd drop-in and share some information. The MK3 motor is 15 poles, same as the MKII/MK2A. The electronics are very similar to the MK2A, though the MK3 has...
