WTB: Westrex 1700 Cutting Amp and 3D Cutterhead
we are finally moving forward with setting up our Scully lathe, and need to find another channel of cutting amp and a stereo head, the system is currently Mono only and we'd like to upgrade it to stereo, I'm (obviously) a newb on this, so if anyone can offer any suggestions, please let us know, thanks

Re: Making a lathe with a washing machine motor
I met Les Paul once, who told me a bit about his lathe. I believe the platter is the flywheel from a Cadillac transmission.

Re: Scully 501 Motor
do you think it will have enough torque?
I ask because I'm hoping to do the same thing on a recently arrived 501, with an SP10 M2 I already own
I might go for a SP10 M3, but... well, the money
please let me know what you think
thanks_M

What's Your Lathe Acquisition Story?
My wife works in an art museum and has told me unusual provenance stories. So it recently occured to me each lathe acquisition is its own war story. So what's yours? Did someone you had not heard from since high school call you out of the blue, "you'll never guess what I just inherited?" Was risking...

@soulbear, I agree, you are not a movie critic, its a film adaptation of a play by August Wilson, not a biopic excellent piece here about it, https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2020/12/21/reimagining-august-wilsons-ma-raineys-black-bottom-on-the-small-screen?source=search_google_dsa_paid&gclid=CjwKC...

Re: 7 inch side length question
DMM = direct metal mastering. i.e. cutting into a coper disc instead of lacquer. It represented the state of the art and the last hooray from Neumann in cutting lathe technology before CD's took over. As far as fidelity, the 7"33 can be the worst of the vinyl formats.
