Re: Some more questions about Wilcox-Gay
Hey, Boss. I also recently purchased a Wilcox-Gay machine. Haven't got a chance to play with it yet, what with the holidays and everything, but I can offer some basic advice being in a similar position as you. Coil up that power cord for the time-being, and don't think about plugging it in again for...

Re: Recordette manual uploaded
A reasonably legible schematic for the OJ Series can be found on page 1387 of the following .pdf.
http://highgate.comm.sfu.ca/oldradio/vol_21.pdf
There's no parts list on this schematic, but the list on the schematic Tape posted is legible enough if you zoom in.

Mulchefye/Ratman, You need to chill, brother. No offense meant, but this is a long-game kind of hobby, you know. Patience is the game, my friend. Most of these cats have been at it for over ten years, and have invested tend-of-thousands of dollars into the craft. You've gotta give respect where it's...

Re: starting out cutting, have presto 8n,6n
(Sorry to keep double-posting, folks, but...) Do yourself a valuable favor and install a fuse leading to your cutter-head before trying to play with your machine/testing her out. There's a chance you'll have to do some repairs if the machine has been out of service a while, and everything I've come ...

Re: starting out cutting, have presto 8n,6n
Hey there, Boss I figured one of the more experienced members of the forum would have answered you, but in case you haven't figured it out on your own by now: You'll probably want to get your lacquer blanks from Apollo at some point. They're pricy, but it sounds like you have a budget that might acc...

Heard back from the guys at West-Tech. (Great response time)
They re-assured me that they absolutely, 100% still rebuild crystal cutter-heads, which is good as I've just bought a spare that I intend on having them rebuild for me, as well.

Re: Plans to repair Wilcox-Gay Recordette Sr. Any advice?
I'm not sure Gib is still providing a rebuild service. Ah, see, I knew that he won't bother with Recordette repair anymore, but he's stopped rebuilding crystal heads, as well? If so, that's certainly cause for concern, as I was relying on his service. I can try to go the piezo route if need be, tho...

Plans to repair Wilcox-Gay Recordette Sr. Any advice?
Dear, Trolls I've got about a week until my Wilcox-Gay Recordette SR (I think it's an OJ10, but I can't be certain until I have it in my possession), and I'm working on my plans for restoration and subsequent modification. Without being too verbose, I made a checklist, and I would appreciate it if a...

Re: Welcome, Newbies! Say Hi in this thread!
Howdy, Trolls! I'm a 25-year old studying Stationary Engineering in Buffalo, NY. I've enjoyed fixing/tinkering with vintage electronics and appliances in the past, and so I recently purchased a W.G. Recordette Sr off of Ebay that I plan on first making functional, followed by yet-to-be-determined mo...
