Djing with acrylic discs

Hello all. I wasn't sure where to open this topic, so I hope that it's ok to write in here. Well, I have a basic DJ setup and a small record collection, but I'm not a DJ officially (not yet). I don't want to ruin or lose my precious records while travelling, so I want to have lathe cut copies of my ...

Some Help Is Needed With Audacity

Hello folks. I hope you can me with my issue. A while ago I discovered an web based application for converting sound files to svg graphics. I'm intended to convert my favorite tracks to graphic files, in order to put them on laser engraved records. However, I have a problem: Some of those tracks are...

Re: Pictures in sound: introducing Vinyl Draw

Hello. I was wondering if I can apply this route to pre-recorded wav files (meaning tracks recorded from 33rpm records) or wav files that I buy online, in order to re-record them on 45 rpm discs. Thank you.

P.S: I spent quite a long time on Audacity without any success.

Re: Cutting records on a cnc mill

Hello, latecomer here. My question is, will laser cut records be mono or stereo? Thank you.

Re: Laser Cut Record

Thanks for your input. If I remember correctly Ghassei's project predated HD Vinyl way before, and I don't know if the Austrian Company was "inspired" by Ghassei's work or not. However, vinyl production must go to the next level at some point (at least that's how I feel about it). The Apollo disaste...

Laser Cut Record

Hello all. I've been searching for the above mentioned subject for a couple of years, and I have found this project on instructables.com. My question is, has someone in the community ever tried that technique? If so, what was the result? Thank you for reading. https://www.instructables.com/id/Laser-...

Re: Economical emboss-able clear flexi-blanks idea

RE: skipping: All the same rules apply as any embossing on CD or polycarbonate you've seen on #lathetrolls: Embossing creates a shallow side-horned-groove so an over-worn needle (or wrong-size needle) might have trouble tracking for playback. A well-crafted lead-in helps people start playback becau...

Not at all. I wasn’t talking about piracy. What’s on my mind is to obtain performance rights of songs for club use.

It would be great if DJs could obtain performance rights when they cut their records with Phonocut.

According to their website black blanks will be available in the future. If we return to Phonocut, I want to have one and cut my own compilations for my sets.

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

I’m a frequent visitor of DJWORX as well. Mark normally waits until the hype has been confirmed before posting anything new. I imagine he is waiting until the Kickstarter launch before making a post. Have a look at these blanks: http://recordblanks.com/product/10-record-blank/ they are black and 1....

It would be great if you supplied solid and translucent colored blanks.

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

I saw this in action. It works great and sounds very good (current prototype has a Caruso).. no caruso inside. its more like a dialba head (sc-99 follow up) but in a cartridge design. there was question from FelaBorbone what kind of transducer as well: so just a very state of the art moving coil fe...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

I’m surprised this hasn’t been advertised more for vinyl DJs as they are the ones that would be most interested in making lots of one off records. I’m not really convinced about the vinyl “mixtape” angle due to the limited amount of running time and high costs. DJs are more forgiving on sound quali...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

If this is legit I am wondering if I can use a heated lamp to be able to cut to PVC blanks instead of their proprietary $10 each blanks. They are possibly softer as there doesn’t appear to be a heater on the unit. Once the details are out we will know more. Has anybody experience buying blanks from...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

My mistake. Of course I know it doesn’t press records. If I ever have one I’m going to cut my favorite tracks to disc (one-off copies). Only after that I’m going to approach to record labels for public performance licenses.

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

I have been considering djing as a career, and cutting my own records would be great. I could press my own compilations. However I don’t want to face legal issues.

Sound Quality Of Flexi Discs

Hello everybody. I’m not a new member, but I visit this forum occasionally. I’ve been thinking about Flexi Discs and have some questions about them on my mind. I’ll be glad if you guys help me out. As far as I know Flexi Discs suffer from skipping and surface noise. What can be done to prevent these...
