Re: FS: Fairchild / Rek-O-Kut M5pro Transcription Turntable

Lathe is currently being picked up in NYC, crated and shipped back to me in Atlanta. So, it's back to being available for pickup here or I can meet you in the SE us states somewhere. The good news is it will already be crated up so it will be ready to ship! Thanks again for looking.

Re: FS: Fairchild / Rek-O-Kut M5pro Transcription Turntable

Ok Guys, I sold this to a Gentleman in Brooklyn, and after I met him in person, demonstrated the lathe and he took it back up to NY it has begun to have an issue on the 33rpm speed. Something must have come loose in the gear transfer box and the 33 speed raises uncontrollably until it hits 78. 45 an...

Letting go of a couple nice , fully functional lathes to fund a presto 8d. Asking $6500 for this incredible vintage conversation piece Fairchild Transcription Turntable with ROK M5pro spiraling overhead and Audax head (which is what originally came stock with these, not the 1d pictured here). Letting go of a couple nice , fully functional lathes to fund a presto 8d. Asking $1750 for this ROK Challenger (with fully functional tube amp and 5c head). Re: tungsten vs sapphire

Don't have a comparison file but the quality jump (and ease of use) I experienced going from cones to Piaptk's embossing stylus (sapphire) was huge. Night and day. Louder, clearer and crisper highs. Can't recommend enough!

Lathecutparts.com is where you can find them iirc

Re: RekOKut M12 Surface Noise Issue

No problem, based on having seen these blanks on eBay auction (linked in post above) and the source mentioned, they are using a harder pvc plastic medium than used by most. If you read the auction closely and search the source here you'll see a few others have come to the same conclusion. Again, jus...

Re: RekOKut M12 Surface Noise Issue

Hate to say it but those blanks are probably the problem. I would suggest buying clear blanks from tragwag, or clear or black blanks from Piaptk. Also you'll get instantly better results using the Piaptk embossing sapphires, that will also eliminate any worries about cutting angle. You can get the t...

Re: Rek o kut master pro feedscrew adjustable center?

Do you have any suggestions on replacement? the screw bit isnt working since it is throwing off the feedscrews angle. The screw you linked below looks like it should be pretty close. Save having a copy cloned (don't see why it couldn't even be 3d printed out of a harder plastic) the only other thin...

Re: Rek o kut master pro feedscrew adjustable center?

Here it is.. as you can see there is a half bearing type nipple on the end which inserts into a recess on the end of the feedscrew. There is also one flat side on the cylinder which allows the screw directly above on the top of the overhead to hold this piece in place.

Re: Rek O Kut M 12 overhead question

The m5s and m12s are the ROK overheads with the crank handle that allow you to do lead in and lead out. Without the crank you basically just cut one lpi all the way across the side. I definitely would not say these are a cheap or base model as they are functionally pretty much the same and are units...

Re: Some gear for sale or trade

What is the lpi on the rek o kut feedscrew? They are usually inscribed into one end. May be interested in the overhead.

Thanks!

Re: where to get black poly blanks

Hate to say I did not have any luck with Recordblanks product for embossing. I'm sure they are great for cutting w/ diamond as recommended but surface noise makes it unusable compared to pc for embossing using steel cones. I'd love some black or other color poly blanks too so hopefully somebody know...

Re: Fairchild / Rek O Kut M5 Pro Lathe

Hi Nikc, Yes, from what I can tell stylus heat is pretty much essential for embossing. I guess you might be able to just heat up the blanks instead but it seems like most folks are doing at least stylus heat and sometimes both. Along with turtlewax or lighter fluid which help soften up the blanks an...
