Help with a Technics sl-j3
So, I was surprised to find the Technics Direct Drive Automatic Turntable sl-j3 at a MajerThrift. The needle was busted but the turntable and drive system worked just fine. I cleaned it out and replaced the needle with an aftermarket ATN-122EP. The problem is, the bit of sound it gives out sounds te...

Re: My Presto 6N Cutterhead Project
Ah, thanks! Will a 10w driver be enough for a lathe?
I thought it had to be around 40 to get enough vibration.
(I could be completely wrong)

Nice looking thus far! Are the drivers just ones you had laying around? or can you post a link to where you got them?

Re: The Mini Lathe Build log (Update)
Update No.2 I've printed most the parts and started bolting it together for a test fit. My gosh, I can't stop looking at it. Even if the design isn't mechanically sound, it's still worth finishing. The 'Tweeter plates' are removable so I can later switch them out with better ones without reprinting ...

Re: introducing my diy lathe assembly phase
Awesome awesome! I freakin love all the information! seeing all the handy work put into diy lathes is just so cool. What I'm most confused about is the software side of things. (I haven't had a chance to really look this up yet, but if you have answers I'd rather ask you directly) You say "play trac...

The Mini Lathe Build log (Update)
Hello fellow Trolls! I'm glad to finally be posting this project, something I hope you'll also get a good kick out of. It wasn't until I found and abandon record player on the side of the road that I really started appreciating the art that is vinyl records. (six weeks ago) You can imagine my relief...

Re: Welcome, Newbies! Say Hi in this thread!
G'day lads! I've 'studied' turntables and vinyl lathes on and off for years but never had a chance to try anything. It wasn't until I found a record player on the side of the road two months ago that I finally now have a chance to toy around! I have two turntable projects lined up and i can't wait t...
