Great system and support! Although, for that much just buy it from him yourself to get the extra support. Not sure if he supports second hand but he might!

If you cut too deep you can get into souris core black layer which will cause this.

Re: Elasticstage - short run record production
Artists love to see how their records are made.... they hide behind bad promo videos and hype speech. If you guys are changing the game, show us! Until then, we have a lot of business, cut cut cut! The sound cloud idea has been had by almost every cutter, late to the game on the idea but congrats to...

Re: DinSync NC-V8 acoustic lathe
Same as everyone else. Lack of dashpot and spring held me back from pulling the trigger. On top of the that to push the buttons you are directly touching the lathes most sensitive part with no dashpot. Maybe one could put a rubber coupling between the pitch motor and the screw to cut down on motor n...

Any one know what wholesale is on lacquers? Are we getting crazy markups or is cost really high?

Re: DIY vacuum plate
Adding to this... I made one with two layers of 1/16 fine grain cork. You use a circle drawing compass to make several circles in one cork sheet (I did about 1" apart) and cut them out. Use every other circle. Then spray glue them onto the other cork sheet which is cut to the diameter of your platte...

Phinster... do some research and cutting before making comments that might mislead people looking for good info.

Love the spot gloss finish! Our Roland does that too but we never had a project to use it on... now I want to find one

Awesome! Maybe one day lathe cutters can get enough cred to speak at making vinyl events... but at least Mike got a tapeop feature!

Re: Elasticstage - short run record production
Besides the accomplishment of automating lathe cuts, is QC automated? I am curious how they catch surface noise, skips, groove issues, machine hiccups etc... The creator or someone involved should chime in! Cutting thousands and thousands of lathe cuts, I know QC even on 4 machines is a big task.

Re: Elasticstage - short run record production
I have to ask... do you think these people have ever cut a record? I would first say the static adhesion would cause insane swarf issues. Second, it seems like they think the head/lathe part are a no brainer and the challenge is the manufacturing processes?

Ya but that doesn't help uneven lacquers. It'll help slipping and a little tiny bit of unevenness at the outer part.

Best alternative to a vacuum platter on an 8n
I am trying to stabilize my groove depth on my 8n. Ive tried neoprene matts, sorbothane (thanks Mike for the tip), no mat and just the metal platter with silk screen mesh. I am aware that a vacuum platter would be quite a challenge. Any advice would be helpful. Tried multiple oils too in the dashpot...

Re: Agnew analog system
Tyler and Flo both nailed it. It's a lot of money and it will be more than expected even after buying a system. Also consider ROI, lathe cuts are easy to sell and are still in demand. Lacquer mastering on the other hand is completely different and much harder to break into unless you have your own p...

Re: VR T560 mono/stereo problem
I'd double check your playback chain too if you haven't already. Interface software could be set to dual mono instead of stereo linked outputs, it happens with our interface if you don't put your outputs to DAW through. Bypassing Souris stuff is a big improvement. If you did any DAW eq matching... t...
