Re: Uncharted recording plastics and plastic forming

Did you try cutting on it, or was it not even worth it?

Re: Why is vinyl cutting so expensive?

Thanks for sharing your setup. What I am asking for is a knowledgeable opinion about whether what I said has any potential for inexpensively solving the problem.

Re: Why is vinyl cutting so expensive?

It seems to me like you could just use this anti-static gun: https://www.juno.co.uk/products/milty-zerostat-3-anti-static-pistol-for/299784-01/, along with a Aerostat PC Ionizing Air Blower and you would be just fine. Am I right, or would you still need anti-static wax?

Why is vinyl cutting so expensive?

Why is vinyl cutting so expensive? It seems if you are a skilled engineer you should be able to pull off a dub plate for the price of the blank you cut. Of course, you might need to bump up the money at ton that you sells the cuts for, so you can pay bills and whatnot. But is that the only reason wh...

Re: WTB new or used lathe?

Hi Audiosteam, I could find no other way to contact you then to do this. This is a polite reminder to respond to that PM I sent you a long time ago, almost two months. I already tried emailing you BTW. Sorry if I am being rude replying on this thread, but I really need a response.

Re: Recording directly from AUX at home?

It depends what lathe your are using. For example: on the presto lathes you have a RCA jack, or a quarter inch jack. You could get a 3.5 inch to quarter inch adapter etc. to hook it up. In some cases you might need some amplification. Again, it all depends on what lathe your using. I very strongly d...

Making a 12" lacquer

Hi guys, just had a crazy idea. Because the audio engineers only use the first two inches of a 14" lacquer disk as a test cut, why couldn't you just make the test cut on a separate record instead, then only make a 12" stamper?

Let me know if this will work or not.

No, that wont work. You need at least 10 tons of force to do you any good.

What happened to the DRC (desktop record cutter)?

Does anyone remember the Desktop Record Cutter kickstarter campaign? There website is down and there Lathe Trolls account is dead. I think they sold a few on the campaign and I want to know where I can buy one!

Thanks.
