I don't have Konstantin's head, but all tests and samples I've heard are fantastic! (All feedback from owners has been stellar as well!)

Re: Rietschle VTE Maintenance

Hey Gang,

So I purchased a maintenance kit for the VTE-6 and replaced all the relevant parts. It seems to have fixed my suction problem thus far!

Hope this helps someone else out if they need to identify/replace the parts in their VTE-6.

Re: Rietschle VTE Maintenance

Looks like a T25 Torx bit has a better, snug fit. I also identified the model. It's a VTE-6. I had to measure the pump from front-to-back when I realized that they were all different lengths. The VTE-6 is 8.82 inches/224mm from end-to-end. Between that and the hole configuration on top of the pump, ...

The link above was from Canada and requires a Tax ID or you pay further duties, FYI. I just ordered one from a spot in AZ instead.

Once I identify my model, I'll report back.

Re: Rietschle VTE Maintenance

So, I ended up using a 5/32 hex to get the screws out. I am not certain that the bit was correct, but it worked and I should be able to tighten them. They may be torx but I am unsure if I chewed the inside a bit or if it was paint coming off or both. (I may just dremmel the screws for flat head scre...

I can’t help on the pump but if the metric keys don’t fit have you tried imperial?

Maybe post a photo of the pump and what you’re working with, someone may be able to help figure it out
Thanks for the tip! I'll look into imperial.

Rietschle VTE Maintenance

Hey Trolls! I've been having some suction issues with my VR lately and after cleaning the tube and hitting everything with talc it seems to be persisting. (Everything seems to be sealed just fine) That said, I purchased my Rietschle VTE (I think it's a VTE-6) vacuum pump second-hand and it occurred ...

Re: New lathe wanted (EU)

I'd still look into international shipping. I had to suck it up for my VR but it was SO WORTH IT. And a 6N rocking a stereo head with a diamond will be totally B.A. as well. I'd give a +1 to piaptk, he is amazing to deal with. We've done lots of business.

I've heard that PVC roasts diamonds really quickly. I'm pretty sure blanks are PETG plastic.

Definitely hit up Mike at PIAPTK he charges for service calls and help (totally worth every cent) but he also has machines for sale ... Super helpful and knowledgeable +1, I started out with Mike and it was worth every penny. Seriously. He cuts (see what I did there?) the learning curve down so muc...

I'm not sure about industry standards, but I cut a 78 rpm record (hifi diamond) with my VR/SP-15 and it played like a boss on an old crank Victrola. It was a fun experiment.

Re: Looking for advice for a Vanrock 101 embossing issue

Hello, Try adding some weight to the head, a couple of metal washers on top, per example. Hope this helps. I agree, more weight should help. You should check out piaptk's beginners guide on the forums. It's pretty informative. Good luck, I hope you get some great sounding cuts. Those sapphires work...

soeffingodly, thanks for the recommendation. It looks like Mike is only selling embossing set ups on his site and I am more interested in cutting. Would you recommend starting off with embossing before cutting or should I go straight for a cutting set up if that is my end goal? So I started out emb...
