Re: Could this be the ideal material for record pressing?
a guy with a USB-stick and a "sync button" aint a DJ. If 60 EPs are too heavy to carry...ina trolley, then i dont think the person would be willing to spend 6hrs daily hunting decent music either.. lazy asses replaced DJs in most of the clubs around 2001/2, sadly the audience either didnt notice or ...

Re: Optical check (microscope, camera)
we gotta "understand" a few phenomena and it will be quite impossible without decent optical check - what level of zoom do we need to get a "readable" image of both groove walls?

Re: List of Electroplating Facilities
i'd love to "have" a list of EU based plating facilities. i'd love to have my stuff cut @ Dubplates & Mastering, but we're not processing acetates, so i'd have to get my masters sent to Italy/France and then get the metalparts back to Poland - in case of any defect, it would take ages to get a repla...

Re: Lened / Hamilton presses - history reconstruction
quite a read indeed.
i found that our presses were originally used by Apexton:

i tried to contact Frank "Bones" Mitchell, but got no answer, we used to have a few arguements in the discogs forums and he may have remembered those

https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d39/grae_fm/stamper%20-%20lower%20pin_zpsqtrdf61r.png all of our molds use these, so they leave a 70mm single ring on the label. our former ceo is Polish, im not sure if we ever had Australian HQ, but i'll ask around. where can I find the accurate terminology used...

Lened / Hamilton presses - history reconstruction
These 4 column, large-pin presses have been iconic to me long before i joined the pressing plant who uses them. Back in mid-late 90s, i was into chicago-house / detroit techno - Transmat, Axis, UR etc or the Maurizio / Basic Channel stuff and they all were pressed with the 70mm pin presses. the pres...

cutting both dmm & lacquers with one VMS70?
i've heard that the power supply of the 70 actually allows the machine to cut both: copper and lacquers, unfortunately that was a vague statement unsupported with any technical details. is it at all possible to remove the cutting head (sx74) and mount a dmm-cuttting head powered by the same SAL74? t...

Re: MDC lacquers
how about EU? who sells these here?
our local cutting studio gets better results with the MDC blanks (at least with the recent batches) so it's good to have an eye on the suppliers..

lingual issues: english names of the press parts
what is the accurrate name of the round-headed holding pin that holds the stampers in place?
these are called "fixing plates" here but somehow i feel it is not exactly accurate.

Re: dmm vs acetate and...levels
that's a good read ;) solo brushes, shakers, violin, acappellas - that's what (to me) sounds ok cut in dmm, but whenever it gets to punchy bass drum and cripsy basslines, that where dmm fails to me, as if the original ADSR envelope was impossible to transmit on the disc, resulting in "rubbery", slow...

dmm vs acetate and...levels
1. i was always into cripsy dynamics and healthy distance between the drum peaks and the RMS 2. i know how dmm was advertised to be the last word in master cutting (no pre-echo, clean cut, blahblah) but: 100 out of 100 of my faverite records appeared to be electroplated from a lacquer disc. 10 out o...

Re: Record Industry (NL) - always DMM or lacquers too?
ALL of the ones i liked were reported to be pressed from post-lacquer stampers, so it seems i have a strong taste for acetate masters, and zero tolerance for dmm sound.

Re: Record Industry (NL) - always DMM or lacquers too?
there's been a mention of USA based Record Industry, and something tells me the auhtor is speaking on their part, how closely (if at all) it is related to the big dutch Record Industry, i dont know. i'll try to clarify this directly at the Record Ind. and will drop a line or two once i know for sure...

Record Industry (NL) - always DMM or lacquers too?
my experience with records pressed from stampers originating from dmm cuts are mostly... painful (literally) but a lot of records that were prodiced by the Dutch Record Industry sounds very good, or even better, so the question is: are all their products "dmm based" or i have to get deeper into this...
