Re: weird feedback coil?

No, but it did remind me I saw someone make some kind of feedback using a tape head on an RCA:

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

Many thanks Mark, that's really helpful! I've never had the bottom part fully apart, looks a bit different to your image - made up of two bearings plus a locking plate with screws and an outer drive rim for the belt plus the pulley for the overhead. Maybe a revision or difference between the gakken/...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

Hi Mark, Looking at your platter, how do you decouple the original lower mounting point part (with the screws which attach to the plastic case) from the original? or what is the mounting method in your case please? I'm having serious issues with my original platter not spinning freely and cannot wor...

Re: Webster cutterhead manual, schematic diagrams anything

Hi, that would be super helpful to make sure I've not missed anything. I got mine up and running in the end and relatively loud - the only vid I have I uploaded to the guild group on fb so apologies for cross-posting: https://www.facebook.com/groups/363684670694602/permalink/1875674989495555/

Live performance - Brighton, UK 8th Feb

Hi trolls I'm performing again using the handheld inscription method I'm calling tattooing sound using my weird performance lathe with multiple tone arms which tracks the grooves as I make them (often locks). This time I'm working with a cellist/saxophonist and performing in Brighton, UK Details her...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

WOW this is incredable stuff. You have really took this to the next level. How long until the varible pitch version come out ? LOL Too cool ! At this point you can just print the whole thing. It is seriously impressive work! Cross-post to the gakken mod topic... I added a separate pitch mod :) ha h...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

Hi Everyone, I've been working on a new cutting arm and head design and I thought I'd share it here. New Cutting Arm Low Res.jpg This is a complete replacement for the existing arm with several new features. 1. Allows for a head tilt angle adjustment for cutting or embossing. 2. Adds ability to adj...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

The one on the left is the head I made using the same sized driver from the Gakken. Both actually currently have Gakken styli fitted too. Have tested that they "function" but only crude 'tattoo' style cutting since I don't have the mounting arm or carriers made yet. This looks cool and could be use...

Webster cutterhead manual, schematic diagrams anything

Got a webster head (supplied in bits) and put it back together. Producing sound but the armature is catching - need to know if there's supposed to be a dampner or where the adjustment takes place. A pretty low end end but useful to me to have running. It looks like a fairly typical horseshoe type bu...

Re: REK-O-KUT Imperial. Help.

No problem. I guess it could be the top of the tire that's worn too... There is someone who re-rubbers if you want to keep it original. I'm supper happy with Jed's motor, It's versatile too so I use it in my live setup (I switch it between two machines)

Re: Is a Presto 75A a good candidate for mono punk records?

Great deal, congrats! I don't have a 75A but posting pictures will help as will a good old multimeter to trace! Given that it's 8Ohm head you can use many modern amplifiers with it. Do a search on here for recommendations - someone else better placed than me to recommend which. Splice a fuse inline ...

Re: Is a Presto 75A a good candidate for mono punk records?

That is a bargain imho and I would buy it in a shot if I was in a similar position. A massive step up from the recordio. If it doesn't come with a head, You could mount many different heads on that and cut what you want successfully. Personally, I've mounted a Grampian feedback head on a Presto K8 a...

Re: REK-O-KUT Imperial. Help.

Looks like the rubber has worn maybe? If you want to try to inscrease contact from the spindle to the tyres there are grub screws in the metal cover of the speed selector at each end which limits the contact. I've got an imperial II but it looks pretty much the same. Though on mine, in the end, I've...

Live inscription performance (Furrowed) 28th September, Brighton UK

Hi all, anyone who's been following my experimental cutting might be interested in a live event in Brighton in a couple of weeks on the 28th of September. I perform using hand held inscription and I'm supporting another act at the Rose Hill. Some brief videos of the kind of thing I'm doing on instag...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

Hi, Go slow and back the tap out every few turns. I ran the tap through to the hole on the opposite side. Then I blew out some of the powdery residue and ran it through again. Hope it works out for you. Mark Duly noted, Thanks markrob. On side note i have finally added another motor to control the ...

Re: Over-cutting anyone done any?

You may have encountered this concept in your study, already, but it may be worth mentioning in your paper that, with the standard, Micropoint-style lacquer-cutting stylus, having the enormous 40-degree back angle, when we get to the end of the side, due to the ever- slowing land speed at reduced d...

If anyone's interesting in some of this experimental practice. Here's a snippet of some overcutting on an existing pressed record i did. Link in instagram bio (and some more videos on YouTube there too) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs66r37t5wL/

Re: Over-cutting anyone done any?

Not exactly what you are talking about, but this comes to mind: https://www.jeroendiepenmaat.nl/portfolio/mes-ep01-frnsbrggn/ The music is recorded using an amplified knife. In a locked groove the knife cuts out the groove, over and over again, untill the original audio is hardly recognizable. 12” ...

Over-cutting anyone done any?

Hi, I'm writing an academic paper about, and doing some, experimental cutting practices. I have a bit of a list going of works already out there but I'd be interested in some work that any trolls have done. Anyone ever do any deliberate cutting over existing grooves, yours or otherwise for experimen...
