FS: Rek-O-Kut Master Pro 16" Lathe - Turnkey System

Hey all! I'm selling my working ROK lathe and other bits with it. The lathe is a Rek-O-Kut Master Pro Model M-5 16" overhead on a Rek-O-Kut Model LP-743 turntable. It is all mounted on a custom plinth that dare I say looks stunning and the build quality is amazing. The plinth has a power strip insid...

WTB Presto 1-C Sylus Screw

My Presto 1-C doesn't have the original stylus screw to hold it in place. It's the wrong threading so the stylus loosens and will move upon engaging the head to the disc. Anyone have a spare they can sell?

Thanks!

Neumann VMS66 Project Lathe & Story

I wanted to tell the story of how I came about my Neumann VMS66 lathe. There's a lot of history and even more I'm trying to fill in as I research more into the former owner and the gear I procured from him. I'll just start at the beginning. I started working in audio upon graduating from Sheffield I...

Jedrzej Kubiak Rek-O-Ket Belt Drive Review

I wanted to do write up about the belt drive I got from Jed to run my lathe. I have a 1950's Rek-O-Kut LP-743 12" transcription turntable with a ROK Master Pro Model M-5 16" overhead lathe with Presto 1-C cutting head. The feedscrew is powered by a variable speed motor that was a mod from my good fr...

Re: Tone arm wiring issues.

Not sure if it's anodised.. I've tried various points on the arm and there wasn't a difference. The only major difference I can make is putting the ground wire on the left positive lug on the cart.

Tone arm wiring issues.

I have a ROK tone arm I installed on my lathe but I'm having trouble getting it grounded. I have the cartridge head wired directly to RCA male jacks; right and left channels respectively. I have the positive of each channel going to the tip of the RCA, and the negative from each channel going to the...

Rek o Kut R8 Manual

Hey all,

I just got a restored RoK R8 amp and was looking for a manual. There's a few unknowns I'd like to see if the manual addresses but haven't been able to locate one.

Of anyone has a copy of love of you could share it. I'll chip in a coffee or beer for the trouble.

Thanks!
Rick

Re: ROK M5 and cutting masters

You will never be able to cut a record that competes with a modern record cut on a Scully or Neumann for a machine that cost 1/20th the price of one of those professional machines. But, if you are doing short run records for non-picky customers, you could probably cut a decent sounding (but on the ...

ROK M5 and cutting masters

So I have a Fairchild 530 turntable and Rek o Kut M5 overhead with Audax (spelling?) cutting head. I'm currently getting a vacuum and stylus heating system installed, as well as a few other mods but at the end of the day, will this be able to cut masters for pressing? I'm an audio engineer by trade ...

What do you mean C1 cutter head? If I remember reading the Presto K-8 only cuts in 33 1/3 and 78?

What is a good lathe to start on?

Hello Firstly I'm a beginner, obviously. I am a recording engineer but I wanted to start offering some unique services to clients. Cutting a 45 single I thought would be a cool thing. So I wanted to ask you all what a good mono 45 lathe would be to start out and learn on. Simple question, just looki...
