Re: Who can produce stampers from 14" plastic masters
The work we did was testing for an archival project of some very old (100+ years) metalwork. To avoid the risk damaging the irreplaceable audio an epoxy relief was made of the metalwork and then plated. This epoxy was just one kind of plastic, but I assume it would be the same as a PETG (for example...

A short film on stamper manufacturing.
Perhaps of interest to some here: Stamper Discs are proud to present a series of 3 short films giving a behind the scenes looks at one of the most overlooked aspects of the vinyl record manufacturing process. Titled ‘The Making Of A Stamper’, ‘Troubleshooting The Test Pressing’ and ‘Motived By Music...

For any Technics 1210 fans...
Thought a couple of people here might appreciate this fun little adaptation to a Technics deck for the on/off switch so that it can now accommodate 14" discs without the need for a huge stack of slip mats... Too much time on my hands evidently...

Thickness of copper layer on DMM masters
For no other reason than curiosity, does anyone have a spec for the micron thickness of the copper layer on a DMM blank.
Apologies if this has been posted before, I had a quick skim and couldn't find anything.

Re: Engraving pen ? what tool are you using?
Curious what other people use. I use these, I do however dull the end a bit with some sandpaper before using them though so as they're not too scratchy and personally I can't distinguish from anyone elses scribing on lacquers. https://www.amazon.co.uk/QWORK-Tungsten-Engraving-Retractable-Ceramics/dp...

Re: Turntable for 14" lacquers/mothers
Cheap option is the Audio Technica ATLP5 - it will fit a 14" with no modification at all. If you shop around the vintage hifi world there are hundreds of transcription turntables that will accommodate a 14" disc without any modification too, it just might involve traipsing around a few hi-fi dealers...

Re: weird extruder problem,help
The sour smell you mentioned is Chlorine gas. Not very good for you. The texture, softness and smell all mean that the PVC is burning. Perhaps your thermometer is broken? I would suggest getting a meat thermometer that you can stick in the middle of the puck. They're always handy to have around the ...

Re: Anti slip serrations on 7" records
The "anti-slip ring" (or the so-called 'necklace') on 7" records during the heyday of record stackers was created by the stamper forming tool These ridges are therefore not on the record pressing mould - just the stampers. Once their used was phased out, you will see a raised ring around the outer ...

Anti slip serrations on 7" records
HI I was wondering if anyone had any photos or more info on the molds that would have had gripper ridges on them. (The bumps around the outside of labels on 45s to stop them slipping on stackable record players) Purely curious as I've never seen any stock footage or anything on them. 20200503_163326...
