Re: VR: are the meter adjustments passive?

to figure out if the meter is working correctly, take it out of the signal chain. send a 1 khz tone directly to it from the source, then plug and unplug output cables or headphones to see what happens? for what it's worth, a lot of folks (myself included) have done away with the Mixer and various p...

Re: VR: are the meter adjustments passive?

Thank you @ tragwag: the signal chain is standard VR setup without optimizer (at least I thought it is): source -> mixer -> main unit -> amp -> cutter head and a parallel stream source -> mixer - monitor switcher - VU meter -> headphones @ Sylvere: yes, headphone is connected direct to the audio out...

Re: VR: are the meter adjustments passive?

After a very long break - during which I may have forgotten almost everything about the VR - I would now like to start cutting again. While looking for an answer to my question about the VU meter from IMG Stageline, I came across this discussion. When I connect the headphones to the output of the VU...

FS: Picture disc “production toolbox"

Although picture discs look great, I want to concentrate on black records in the future. therefore I'm selling my complete "Production Toolbox" (laminator, hole puncher, manual, countersink drill) including 15 sets of 12” picture discs (2 blanks per set) and 8 sets of 7” picture discs (2 blanks per ...

Vinyl Optimizer for sale

Hi, I’m selling the Vinyl Optimizer that came with the original VR setup. I don’t use it because I apply its functions in my DAW. Great if you have not recordable signals and want to eliminate them in a 100% analog and simple way. Located in Switzerland. Shipping from here is very expensive therefor...

Re: T560 vacuum lid replacement

have a look here: https://gies.de/katalog/giesline/vorratsdose-rund/ (site in German only) This is the original lid that came with the VR. Costs around EUR 4.- Haven‘t found this product in a (online-)shop. Made a call to a very friendly person from the „Verkauf“ team and she was so kind to arrange ...

Re: Quick question for UK T560 users (NJA760 cutting amp)

Thanks! I didn't know about the existence of an "inrush current limiter". So, do you use one of these? Are there any bad 'side-effects'?
[/quote]

I use one of these, works fine and no problems observed so far. It's the same model that was used during the training in Germany.
Hope that helps.

Re: For sale Tweeters original and reparied VR

As far as I can remember, it was mentioned in the training that fixing a blown cutter head costs 800 EUR. Luckily the cutter head of my VR is not (yet) broken -fingers crossed. I have a good contact with the manufacturer of the VR. In case of a blown head I would probably contact him and get hopeful...

Re: Heat Affecting Dashpot?

I doubt that the spring is the reason: I have only modest mechanical knowledge, but according to my understandig the spring only reduces the weight of the cutter head from 45g to 15g. The spring is made of steel, it is only stretched within its elastic range and not overstretched. Also, the spring i...

Re: VR suction problem

What you hear is either the groove speed motor (search this forum for the solution(s)) or the suction and a 'rhythmic' noise synchrone to turntable (33 rpm).

Re: VR suction problem

Ok, thank you Discomo, for clarification. In fact, it was the first time, that I saw on the VR website that an angle of 0 degrees ist recommended to be best. I had a look at my handwritten notes from the training in late 2018: the angle shall be approx. 10 degrees. I fully agree that the cutting ang...

Re: VR suction problem

Sorry to come back to the angle of the stylus. Attached a photo from the head of my VR. The cutting angle is approx. 20 degrees away from perpendicular (0°) when the head is in a horizontal position (parallel to the blank). The head parallel to the blank is my normal setup and cutting results are qu...

Re: Souri's T560 Cutting Machine

The dimensions and function of the T560 are very well adapted in combination with the SL1200.
Can anyone say what needs to be modified to use the T560 with the SP10 -only height adjustment of the cutterhead or further modifications?
Thank you

Re: torque enhancing on Technics SL-1200/1210

I only heard that so I can't confirm:
The new SL1200 MK seems to have weaker bearings.
Only the much more expensive SL1200G has stabler bearings so that the plater is well balanced.

No, I have no additional information as there is no identification plate on the pump.
