Re: Question for VR owners (who went for training)
Thanks! I thought it might well be something like this. Did you have to pay a deposit before going? No deposit for me One of the weirdest weekends of my life Simply enjoy the ride, and spend the next few years thinking about grooves all day, every day and spending more money The basic setup needs s...

Re: Automatic groove speed controller for VR
I did some multi meter measurements on the motor voltage out while adding voltage to the shorting port, markrob is very much right on this one When the motor is spinning freely it's just enough to do lead ins and marks I tried using midi to cv with s-trig (shorting) to control lead in and marks only...

The input is in normal operation (motor speed control via dial on front) when it is shorted. When short pin is removed the motor will run at full speed.

Re: Technics sp10 mkII tonearm?
I bought a beaten Rega Planar. Usually better price than arm only and got a great deal with fresh needle.
Asked a woodworker friend to cut the arm part of, glued a piece of wood to bottom and presto.
Hope this helps!

Re: Technics sp10 mkII tonearm?
Isn't this tonearm used only for monitoring to check if there are skips on the record? If so, why do you guys buy an expensive tonearms? I use it a lot for exact heating and some realtime de-essing too And like PMST said you really want it for calibration: volumes, eq curve even if your using the m...

@drdub
Do you print on mat or glossy paper? The glossy ones look more "real", but are very easy to scratch imo.
I settled for foldovers in plastic covers because of the hassle.

Re: stylus heating question (plastic)
Overheating is very dangerous for your stylus, it blew one of mine out of the shank(?)
New stylus not much might be needed, maybe a bit to get rid of the static type sound
Older stylus there is a sweetspot with total silence

Re: Groove width / pitch algorithm
For starters I guess what I'm after is "converting" an audio waveform to a displacement waveform (more a representation of) so I can use it in my normal audio environment, using my trusted analyzing tools etc. Is this possible or am I missing the point here?

Re: Groove width / pitch algorithm
@markrob I run a dynamic head, RIAA en correction in one EQ, this is fairly easy to seperate. Volume calibrated so I can work from here @markrob & @dmills thanks for enlighting me! Over the years my focus always was on getting out the audio I was putting in, but I really want to understand what's ha...

Groove width / pitch algorithm
There are probably a few posts here and there dedicated to this, but maybe I don't know the right search terms I'm only talking about the mid component of the audio here I may be seeing it all wrong, but after the audio ends up on the cut according to RIAA specifications, what I see visually is not ...
