7" Press Tonnage
Hey Everybody, I have been looking at different pressing options and was wondering the following: It seems that the press tonnage for 12" records generally falls in the 100-125 ton range for manual presses like Hamiltons and Finebilts for example. I think 3 post Alpha brochure shows 108 tons. So for...

Re: Anyone know any <200 turntables with lots of torque?
I've been pondering the Denon DP-2000 thru DP-3000 series direct drives. I was able to purchase a reconditioned DP-2000 for $30 on Buyee in Japan. I lumped it together with other items I purchased there to reduce shipping and probably spent $50-60 all together. These models running here in the US go...

Hi Andy,
I just wanted to back check and see if you ended up getting a buyer for the Junetime AD12 press and steam generator?
Hope that all is going well for you!

Re: Puck weight?
Thanks also Aussie! Yeah that totally makes sense. I hadn't thought about dry mix. I haven't seen anyone processing with dry mix. But definitely possible. We may end up in a somewhat DIY situation. I have been looking at extruders from various press manufacturers. But have noticed that a basic 1 1/2...

Re: Puck weight?
Thanks so much Ketaman. I've been looking at some manual extruders and just wanted to figure out the smallest screw diameter to work with.
It's interesting that nobody is doing dual screw units. Not sure if that would be advantageous or not.

Puck weight?
Hello Everybody, Just a quick question about Puck weights. I'm looking at extruders and trying to calculate Kg/Hr output required for an appropriate extruder. So if you have a max record weight of 180 grams, what weight puck would be required to produce that record? I'm guessing that the flash is ar...

Re: Wanted: Disc Cutting Machine
Sillitoe Audio Technology is making what appears to be a nice looking unit.
https://www.sillitoeaudiotechnology.com/
I'm not sure if all of their pre-orders are filled yet or not. They appear to be researching a metal cutting option too.
Good Luck!

Hey Wandaru I'm soooo sorry I missed your post! I tend to check a few threads here for pressing and classifieds and totally forgot I posted the LK-1. Man yours is a Darth Vader look alike! Re: Looking for Mouldholder
Hi Jacob, Have you tried contacting Wilh. Shafer GmbH yet? They make all of Newbilt's mould parts. Probably can custom anything you may need and save you allot of headache. I often find some extra cost for solutions is far more valuable than trial/time/frustration... https://www.wilh-schaefer-gmbh.d...

Re: Thermal Fluids instead of Steam?
Thank You all so much for your input! Especially the links to older postings. I'm getting some quotes from Single and Rokon at the moment and will look at the Regloplas units as well. Since I'll just be starting with a single manual press having the heat/cooling in the same unit will make things muc...

Re: Thermal Fluids instead of Steam?
I've been looking at tempered water units, unfortunately they are huge power hogs. The Single G2/65 I'm looking at is 380-415v 200a breaker. Which is attainable, but expensive operating. Its a great unit because it does heating/cooling all in the same unit. Mokon also sells similar units I had notic...

Thermal Fluids instead of Steam?
Hello Trolls, I am no expert on anything to with steam and record pressing, a total newbie. My 30+ year career as a piping designer has been with process water, gases, chemicals and waste. But I've been pondering, Why Steam??? I saw this article about replacing Steam with Thermal liquids and thought...

Re: Pictures in sound: introducing Vinyl Draw
Haha, no you're the genius by far David! I downloaded the software last night to play around with it. I can process a track just fine, but the Start and End settings only manipulate the Red circle for some reason?? Am I missing something? I figured the green circle was the start and red the end... I...

Re: Pictures in sound: introducing Vinyl Draw
Hi David, I ran across the Youtube videos you posted for Vinyl Draw and your cutter today. Fantastic work! I was thinking... Wouldn't it just be easier to adjust the graphics for the drift before processing? That way you could record at a constant speed that your normal audio is set to? Photoshop ha...
