No the wires are ultra flexible and soft silicon coated 20 awg purposefully chosen for this reason.

Post a clip, sounds like mechanical breakdown of one of the drivers from being pushed too hard for long periods.

Try cutting with one driver at a time momentarily.

There should be a thin strip of metal for the mount to bite into using the 3 tiny grub screws on the side of the mount.

Open the cover, remove metal clip and unscrew the nut under the lever then you can pull it out.
