Re: Cutting Stylus Weights

I saw the price of small accurate spring scales and decided to use Hook's law instead. Wound some suitable gauge copper wire around a screwdriver shaft and made a spring. Calibrated the extension with small incremental weights and marked the extension on a piece of card. Useful around the 8-12g leve...

Re: The dark art of diamond sharpening

I'm interested to see what others have to say on this topic - I tried using ceramic bonded discs, but found the removal rate was too slow - or maybe I'm too impatient, as it seems like Estrada is getting usable results with a bit of patience... Re: The dark art of diamond sharpening

Hi I'd really like to try get my head around the necessary angles for the grinding. I have a Vevor lapping machine and have been experimenting with polishing sapphire and CVD diamond. I just don't have the topological mind to visualize the process. I can set the index wheel to produce 90 a degree ti...

Re: Lockdown turntable and lathe - a DIY project

Hello. My name is Todor (from Bulgaria) and a friend of mine asked me to help him with the "Arduino" part for this vinyl recorder project. I'm done with all the wiring. Actually I'm running A4988 driver instead of TCM2208 (I hardwired MS3 for the A4988 and changed the Arduino routine setHStepperMS ...

Re: The dark art of diamond sharpening

Brilliant and informative thread. I have a question about stage 1 ie. attaching the diamond or sapphire to the shank. I reckon vacuum brazing will be beyond most DIYers. I guess people will be using adhesive. I have been slicing up sapphire watch glasses to make blanks - it is a cheap source. Though...

Re: Stereo Cutting Head - based on Grooveguys design

Hi Estrada,

Fascinating post.
I am particularly interested in your diamond faceting efforts. I have purchased a polishing machine just for this purpose. Would really benefit from your experience.

cheers
