Re: My best Gakken toy recordings (thanks Lathe Trolls)!
Hi SquirrelMonkey! That’s pretty impressive. :D Did you make any mods to the recorder or was it a matter of fine tuning the recording process. I read that the Gakken has no equalisation. Did you pre-process the audio files to optimise the sound? Yes I pre-processed the audio files. Also, Audacity h...

My best Gakken toy recordings (thanks Lathe Trolls)!
I've read many tips on this forum to make better recordings and I tried most them. It worked!
See the attachments for the results. If people have feedback I can learn from, please let me know.
Still have to try the microwave and ZIPPO fluid methods.

Re: Gakken Toy Record Maker: Ovservations and Questions
Hi Squirrel Monkey, Are you cutting at 33 rpm? And playing back at 78rpm on a different machine? Sound quality is great. Is this cutting or embossing? What is embossing, by the way? English is my 3rd language and I have no idea what it means in this context. Cutting is removing material from the di...

A random thought for people who love to experiment
The demo scene group TRSI made in 2014 a sound file that contains a music video and music (the left speaker is the music, the right speaker is for oscilloscope-input (x-y mode). This is the result: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVdWxKZVYC0 Today I tried to record an old school BASIC program on a r...

Hi Dadboltz.
Yes, I cut at 33 rpm. The input MP3 is slowed down enough that it sounds normal at 78 rpm.

Re: Gakken Toy Record Maker: Ovservations and Questions
I improved my recording quality significantly by making 78 RPM records. The Gakken recorder only supports 33 1/3 and 45 RPM, but the free software Audacity has an RPM converter. I slowed down the music speed from 78 to 33 1/3 and this allows me to record 78 RPM records. I still have to try those oth...

Hi! I'm Jo. I'm a video editor and Youtuber. I am interested in lathe cuts since I bought the Gakken toy recorder.
