Re: PETG suppliers in the USA? ( Diamond / Myshank style cutting)

For a while I was just sourcing 4'x8' sheets of PETG from a local plastics supplier and using a laser cutter to make my own ... *shrug* ... as spinnertownblanks said, sometimes you can even get them to cut it for you.

Re: Stylus Heating for Presto K8

Massively late reply, my apologies. We were creating our own PETG discs, but there appears to be something slightly different and *far* better about the MyShank blank discs. Despite the additional shipping costs (we are in Toronto), we still find the absolute best results with the MyShank disc + nee...

This is interesting. Any word on availability or pricing? Is this just for embossing or will it support diamond cutting? Colour me intrigued.

Yes, so if you are diamond cutting; you certainly want to avoid polycarbonate discs, always use PETG.

Re: Stylus Heating for Presto K8

tbh yes from my experience heating the disc results in absolute crap results. heating the needle itself - fucking gold. literally we've got arguably better results than pressed records. YMMV. I have a modified presto 6n with a TKV cutter head and a regular MyShank diamond needle, if that's worth any...

Improving scrubbing tracking while embossing

Hey, fellow trolls. Curious, I’m using a presto 6n with a sapphire needle on a TKV cutter head, and I’m able to get some shockingly good cuts in terms of audio quality and regular tracking, but it seems when I go to slightly ‘scrub’ the tracks (eg rewind just a bit) the needle always seems to want t...

Wire gauge/type on a 362 Diamond needle?

I run a shop with a partner in Toronto doing diamond cuts off a stereo-modified Presto 6N lathe. Unfortunately the heater wire to our 362 Diamond needle died at a critical time when we've got a lot of clients at the moment. We're wondering what kind of wire, and what gauge is used on these needles? ...

Good evening, trolls! My name is Nicole, I’m from Toronto, Canada; and I am a vinyl enthusiast who is taking her first, fortunately guided; steps into the esoteric art of vinyl manufacturing. After many years of casual interest, I’ve finally landed the financial means to invest in what I hope will b...
