Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80
Thanks, do you have any photos of it? Hi, See the attached files for my latest versions. I have two coupler STL files. One has a thicker base. I've been experimenting to see if I can reduce some of the resonances and I think the thicker is a bit stiffer. It does add some mass however. Feel free to e...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80
Hi Markrob- Were you able to upgrade the stylus and do you have any stl files for the attachment? thanks! Hi, I'm glad this is working out for you. I've been working to improve and add some features. Re: Gakken Toy Record Maker: Ovservations and Questions
Hi, I actually sent a file with with white noise to the on-line mastering app just to see what it was doing. There was some high frequency EQ going on. They kept it mild given the limited power on the PO80. I think there was some compression added as well. I rolled my own set of electronics (you ca...

Re: Gakken Toy Record Maker: Ovservations and Questions
Hi, I don't have much experience with the stock head. I am using my head, electronics and cutting software, so its hard to compare. I am also using CD blanks for all my testing. Because of the extreme amount of high frequency EQ and peak power I am using, I drive my head with a 50 watt amp which ca...

Re: Gakken Toy Record Maker: Ovservations and Questions
Hi, I flip the stylus 180 degrees and emboss on CD-R blanks rather than cut. They stylus lasts quite long and the blanks are cheap. You will have to make a simple adaptor to reduce the center hole of the CD-R to the standard record hole diameter. I 3D print them. Here is an STL file I created that ...

Re: My best Gakken toy recordings (thanks Lathe Trolls)!
Hi SquirrelMonkey! That’s pretty impressive. :D Did you make any mods to the recorder or was it a matter of fine tuning the recording process. I read that the Gakken has no equalisation. Did you pre-process the audio files to optimise the sound? Yes I pre-processed the audio files. Also, Audacity h...

Re: Gakken Toy Record Maker: Ovservations and Questions
To emboss on the Gakken, do you flip the cutter end over end so the flat end is against the record or is it rotating the needle in a circular motion 180? My first cuts on the stock blanks sound pretty decent in a lofi warbly way. I’m impressed considering its a toy kit. I also ordered some Blanq dis...
