Re: Vanrock e-101 help with platter dimensions and stopper function?

Thanks. I managed to remove the drive ring on the platter and replace it with a flexible one which helped my 3D printed platter run smoothly. I then picked up old platter off a user and discovered the drive ring is actually rubber after all as I had determined was best in my design :) Actually my li...

Re: How to make a Tungsten stylus

Thanks for this. What about using a TIG tip sharpening tool as we use for TIG welding? They have several angled holes including 45 degrees that take 1.6mm tungsten and receptacle for a dremel. IMG_2665.jpeg They come with diamond sharpening wheels and are cheap at less than USD$20. Checkout Amazon a...

Re: Vanrock e-101 help with platter dimensions and stopper function?

[/img]V5 of the platter haha. Oh well. Anyway I have a working model so can machine from 7505 Alu. Best on a lathe. Next I reamed some brass rod to fit the Neumann diamond with the 1:20 taper. I used a 2mm drill bit and ground the end at an angle of 2 degrees to use to make the correct taper for fi...

I’m still working on making the best platter out of carbon fibre however the for the stopper, a standard drummer’s quick release cymbal lock works best.

Vanrock e-101 help with platter dimensions and stopper function?

Hi all, is someone please able to measure the dimensions of their Vanrock e-101 or Atom 101 platter? Mine is missing along with the stopper, record hold down device. I need to know the dimensions of their Vanrock platter and hole and if it’s tapered, the thickness of the platter and the spacing and ...

Re: 1:10 conical reamer for Neumann Stylus DIY

I had the problem of finding a suitable reamer to drill the receptacle for a Neumann stylus into an aluminum or brass part. The pitch of the cone is 1:20 (on each side). A reamer is then referred to as a taper as 1:10. Sketch: Neumann Stylus.png Neumann Stylus 2.png In my search I came acros...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

Not checking first, I made a 7” adaptor. I’ll share the files if anyone’s interested. I integrated the clip so you can quickly switch between 5” and 7” by sliding the head mount off. Recommend Markrob’s modified cutting head so you can change the cutter angle and length. I’ve also found that cheap v...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

Thanks Mark. Yes I can see some hair pulling ahead but even if I just use the piezo as a means of measuring the vibration level, it would be better than guessing every time I’m embossing. I can see when the needle is blunt because it starts to bounce off the surface rather than scratch and the wavef...

Re: Hacking The Teenage Engineering PO-80

Yes the stock motor is rubbish for cutting. I found the best place for the supplied blanks, in the rubbish. Just swapping out the cutting stylus for a conically sharpened HSS 1.5mm drill bit and embossing on CDs with some WD40 instantly improved the sound too because the force is lower so wow and fl...

Re: A simple and inexpensive stereo cutter YOU can build!

Hi all what a great forum, thanks. Has anyone tried piezos mounted on the transducer/driver to be able to pick off the signal for feedback. Yes they have a limited freq response but it’s only the top end that we’re talking about anyway? I’m about to try it so will Find out. No harm in having them mo...
